Best Non-Aromatic Room Note Blend? Recommendations?

With the outdoor flea market and family picnic season upon us, what do you all recommend as a pleasant outdoor “room note” blend that won’t offend those non-pipers among us, excluding aromatics? Thanks. Mike

The Four Hundred Marxman Pipe Owner's Thread

I hate to digress, but your post made recall this hilarious story told by former Alabama football coach (and fellow West Virginia native) Nick Saban:

    Who Made my Irwin Ries?

I‘ve picked up a couple IR trade pipes in my visits to Chicago and never thought to ask who made them. They look, feel and smoke very similar to pipes made by Tim West of Columbus, but I’m not certain.

    McCranie's Catawba River Review

Great review. My son lives in Charlotte and I have visited McCranie’s several times. Good pipe people there. I currently have Roanoke and Kitty Hawk in my rotation and will need to try this one, as well. Thanks.

Perique To Be Grown And Processed In Laos

Pipes, Tobacco & Whiskey YouTube channel read a January industry press release tonight noting that Mark Ryan partnered with Tsuge Pipes to use his proprietary methods to grow and process Perique tobacco for the Asian market in the country of Laos. Should be interesting to see how it compares...

***What Are You Smoking, March 2025?***

On Saturday evenings, I like to pay homage to my dear departed Uncle’s by smoking their favorite blend, Half and Half. I’m honestly starting to see what they loved about it. The pipe is a billiard by Tim Beaumont, Papa Bear Briars of Youngstown, Ohio.

    S.T. Dupont Lighter Owners Club

This lighter and pipe set appears at page 141 of the Castello book. It was a joint project with Castello to celebrate the 130th anniversary of DuPont. Only 130 sets made. I’ve never seen one in person.

Farewell Sutliff Tobacco Company - Monday 3/4/25

Let’s hope P&C hires an up to date web designer and spruces things up to SP.com standards, and that both these major sites keep showing color photos of what’s inside each tin of tobacco being offered for sale.

Farewell Sutliff Tobacco Company - Monday 3/4/25

At my age, I really don’t need a “pipe community“ to keep me happy. However, I do enjoy the smoking tents at Chicago and in Columbus. I also have two local cigar/pipe shops where several of us get together and discuss blends on occasion. This interview of Master of Pipes, Neal Osborn, by Simon...

Jonni Adams and Grey Van Kuilenburg on Radio Show of February 25, 2025

As a collector of Tom Eltang pipes, it was very cool to hear about their trip to Denmark, and learn more about his shop & incredible skills. It did not surprise me in the least to learn of Tom’s graciousness and willingness to share his secrets. I can’t wait to see Jonni and Grey’s table in...

Farewell Sutliff Tobacco Company - Monday 3/4/25

Thanks, STG, for shutting down the oldest pipe tobacco producer in America that was still profitable and just celebrated its 175th Anniversary, costing 40 Americans their jobs (and notifying them just before Christmas); apparently not selling or auctioning the plant equipment; and discontinuing...
