    Please explain "Transitional Barling".

Just want to mention that I have recently purchased a couple of 'pre-transitional' Barlings pipes and two of them are real stinkers. I should have known with a 4 digit stamp, but I took the word of 2 noted sellers who I trusted. Naturally, I smoked them so no returns. As the article states...

    Sharing Tobacco

Just want to say, Click, that you are one generous guy for donating your hard earned tobacco to the forum and doing all of the postage work. On behalf of the forum, thank you.

    10,001st Post

John Great milestone. Few others have reached this pinnacle and remained on the forum-one such person was Roth, way back a few years ago. Always have enjoyed your posts. Or, as my wife would say, 'you have too much free time on your hands..." LOL

    For those who smoke indoors

I'm going to face a similar problem in the not too distant future. Now I can smoke in my lower level and my wife tolerates that. Inevitably, we are going to move to Manhattan where not only is there no place to smoke, but even if there were, the anti-smoking beasts on any floor will get on my...

    My new Moretti pipe

Welcome to the forum, Bernie. That is a beauty-the straight grain and the birdseye. I've not had the privilege of owning a Moretti, but I sure hopes this one smokes well for you.

Did I Get a Little Overzealous with the Pipe Cleaners?

See the photo now. I agree with Sable. Just fill it up only 1/2 way a few times and smoke to the bottom. Should be ok, IMO.

    My First eBay Sale

Having a 'reserve' price can be a turn off to many, but there is a risk in not posting one. If you are someone like Pipestud, he has many regular followers where it won't matter if he starts at $.99. But for an unknown, theoretically it could sell for $2.00 if it passes notice. I have heard...

Have You Ever Felt Like A Jackass?

Yeah, me too, but I must admit I don't like seeing it in myself.

1914 BBB Stubby Apple and Bulwark Cut Plug

Klaus Beautifully and heartfelt narrative on you BBB. I completely understand your feelings regarding a briar that is over 100 years old-it really makes you wonder who has had the pipe before you. I have a 1912 Bewlay with an orfic stem that bothers the sh&t out of me, but it smokes wonderfully...

Did I Get a Little Overzealous with the Pipe Cleaners?

Pipes Picture did not post. Try again. I can't imagine how a pipe cleaner could really do that much damage so I'm guessing (without seeing) you're ok.

    Peretti Omega

I've tried both Omega and Royal and Royal is my favorite so far.

Tobacco Review - Esoterica Tobacciana Penzance

Welcome, Bryan. Your English is superb. My Italian is limited to 'cao' and 'Lasagna'. I enjoy Penzance, and occasionally Margate. I would agree with the original reviewer (2 years ago) that the hype of these blends is not really worth the effort to obtain them. What comes to my mind is...

    More Barlings

Greydawn Barlings is a great make, no doubt about it. I also have a 1912 Bewlay and although it has an orithic stem which is not comfortable, it is still an excellent burner. Congrats on your acquisitions.

    New versus estate pipes

All of the above points are valid including Sable's mention of 2 bidders in a room and watch the prices fly. I was at an auction where inexperienced buyers went into a frenzy, bidding on a small machine for more than the price of a new machine. (Ring stretcher-jewelry tool). I turned to...

    NOS Becker Musico

Brad Isn't that a might 'small' for you? Probably a nose warmer. And 40 grams?? My dream weight. Gorgeous. Enjoy that burner.
