Egg McMuffin No Cheese, Large Decaf With

I'm not sure if its everywhere, but in my neck of NYC, (bronx) coffee, any size at McD's is 99 cents. And, the coffee is excellent. But I can't go in there. I am a cruel boss and send my employees in there to fight with them to get a 'dark' coffee. Since creams and sugars were removed from...

Birthday Visit to L. J. Peretti's in Boston (Pic Heavy)

Conlejm Thanks so much for posting those pics. I just bought some of the Royal along with a few others recommended by Peck. The ones I have are excellent. Let us all know how you like those blends. What a great wife you have, ending your afternoon in the best place probably in Boston on your...

    How to avoid rim darkening?

Black coffee? Never heard of that trick, but I'm going to give it a go. I was obsessive about my pipes, but now I'm more relaxed. I agree, if one is going to sell a pipe, keeping it pristine is certainly the way to go. But, for an old shoe, I just let it age naturally.

    Breathtaking pipe carevd....

As a master carver, I'm sure he/she is probably capable of carving anything-stone, clay, whatever. The talent is not to be questioned. But the pipe? Is it a good pipe? Balance, airways, stem construction, etc etc. I have a pipe in my possession that is a beautiful work of cabinetry, but the...

    Early morning pipe

I'm going to suggest another idea. Captain Black (my go to favorite close to 40 years ago) is an aro; a drug store aro. Lots of polyglycol goop in it making it last on the shelf till nearly the end of time. Adjusting to a chemical free (aside from casings, which are not additives in the this...

    Salt treatment: some questions

I believe Pat is correct. It is a harsh treatment. When the pipe is tasting 'funny', sometimes I'll use the retort which is slightly less invasive than the salt treatment.
IMHO

Your Top Ten Pipes Tobaccos That Are No Longer Available!

Sable got it Sobranie No. 759, to be specific. I wasn't there to try it originally, but a pipe club member/visitor gave me 1/2 a tin after sharing it with everyone. The most unbelievable, unattainable, most soft after copied tobacco. As in Blackhouse, the new Balkan Sobranie, etc. I still have...

    Barling Transition

Sable Thank you for the comprehensive explanation of the Barling history regarding my pipe. So if I read you correctly, my pipe is 'post family' era, around or most likely before 1968 or so, and non-Algerian briar.

    Barling Transition

Just received this pipe from Smoking Pipes.com: [/img] Barling Bent Dublin transition 6969, great feel in the mouth and nice weight. Smokes pretty good with the first bowl of Bald Headed Teacher, although a bit moist. Possibly because of the bend. As I understand Barling, they...
