October, 2011 - What are you Smoking?

In my pique today I apparently burned through more than an ounce of 2015. Must be good stuff, it's all I can taste or smell and I'm ok with that.

They Took Out The Smoking Section

Always love reading your road logs, Mason, and am sympathetically incensed that yet another respite has been crossed off the list.

The shape of things to come

Denmark has introduced what is believed to be the world's first fat tax - a surcharge on foods that are high in saturated fat. It's happening, make no mistake. The same measures are being drawn up in localities across the US, as well as for such dastardly agents as sugar, caffeine, and a host of...

    Smoking in NYC

I bummed a light from a cop smoking his Newports on my way into Central Park last week. He asked me about the pipe to make sure what I was smoking wasn't green, we joked about the pedicabs, and bid each other good night. No sensible person cares for insensible laws.

Managing the Cherry - Keeping the Ember

I find I pay most attention to cadence when first sampling a blend, and I usually do it under as undistracted a setting as possible. From then on I'm pretty comfortable knowing how a blend smokes and adjusting cadence to the pipe. Agreeing that with repetition comes unconscious acuity, I also...

Having trouble finding answer pls help

Amen to that! And interestingly, for as much of a data farmer as I am, I've never once measured or adjusted the draught hole on any of my pipes. Looks like I have something to do today....

Correct way of holding stem between teeth?

I'm a clencher too, and I wouldn't have a stem left on any of my pipes if not for using polyolefin heat shrink tubing. There are also softy bits, which are rather thicker and rubberier, which I'm not partial to but many are.
