    Christmas cheer

McClelland's Christmas Cheer is a single crop aged Virginia in broken flake form. It's not an aromatic. I don't notice any nicotine in Christmas Cheer. I buy four or five tins per year and cellar them for a few. I just cracked a tin of 2008 today. Good stuff.

    Pipe Lighters

I just splurged on this lighter. I plan on passing it down to my son as an heirloom some day. I'm going to get it engraved.

    Stem Whistling

I read your original post where you describe the airway being high in the mortise. This isn't uncommon in bent Peterson pipes. I'm curious if the airway is high enough that the tenon is partially obstructing the airway. If the whistle is in the stem alone, chamfering the end of the tenon may...

    Interesting story...

Sounds like she's been well indoctrinated by the public school system and the anti-freedom nazis. They start the antismoking indoctrination almost as soon as they hit the door.

    Through the nose...

That's a pretty good video, gnatjulio. If you smoke to enjoy the tobacco flavors, snorking/retrohaling or whatever you want to call it is a must. It's especially key for us as we age. The older we get, typically, the less sensitive to tastes our tastebuds get and the more we rely on our sense...

What Does a Fill Look Like?

You sure the birdseye on that Savinelli isn't filled? It's not unusual for the birdseye grain to be loose and pitted requiring fills. I've never seen birdseye that looked like that.

    New Pipe

That was a pipe I made back in 2008 and kept for myself. I never intended to sell it but I haven't smoked it in a long time because the bowl is so deep and I just never have the time. I just couldn't stand to see it languish in my pipe rack any longer so I decided it was time to find a new...

What pipe style did you used to hate and now like?

I never liked the prince shape or pipes smaller than a group 4 but like both now.

What alcohol for cleaning / retort?

I use Everclear and one pint has lasted me a very long time. Of course, I'm lucky to clean my pipes once a year. I have used the higher alcohol % rubbing alcohol with no ill effects.

    Beall Buff System

I have three three-in-one buffing mandrels that I use on my wood lathe designated to buffing. I only use two of the three buffing pads on each one though for added space so my pipes don't hit the next wheel over and get yanked out of my hands. With three wheels on the mandrel it's pretty...
