    Samuel Gawith "Factory"

Very cool...I've got to say the pictures of the fully formed plugs aging in the warehouse had me absolutely beside myself (the stack of Balkan Flake is now my desktop background). Man, what I would give for a couple of those...and ten minutes on the snuff side of the factory with a broom and...

    Fader's Tobacconists

I can't really comment on their tobaccos, although I have actually smoked some of the "Churchill Blend", a combination of three vanilla Cav's which wasn't terrible - just not my cup of tea. That said, I expect a few of those blends are likely re-labled bulks; both the bane and the boon of the...

Planning a Trip to Canada? Check This Out First! (Smoking Regulations)

This morning, I was researching the "Clean-Air" bylaws in one of the local municipalities, and stumbled across a rather disturbing document produced by the so-called Non-Smokers Rights Association of Canada. Basically, it outlines each provinces current policies regarding smoking, then goes...

    My First Two Finished Pipes

And then me; that billiard is amazing (I'm also a sucker for anything with a long shank...).

Smoking Meat - and I'm Not Talking About in Pipes! (Long Post)

So, now that we've addressed using propane for low and slow cooking, we need to address the act of low and slow cooking itself. Trimming. We are seeking to keep a very stable tempurature within the barbeque, and as such flare-ups are our enemy. To keep these at a minimum, ensure you trim any...

Smoking Meat - and I'm Not Talking About in Pipes! (Long Post)

Jonahtke; Toque Snuff does a Cheese and Bacon flavour that actually isn't awful. I suppose one could sprinkle a bit on top of a pipe (I do this regularly with the Toffee flavour to bolster aromatics that don't satisfy my nicotine needs). Ryan, I believe I did invite you and Erin over for an...

    Good "Camping" smokes??

Funny that you should mention that tslex, I was just thinking the same thing. If you read my Blackhouse Review here at PipesMagazine.com, you'll even note that I first tried this blend whilst in the middle of no-where, British Columbia (and no matter where I am when I light a bowl now, I am...

Smoking Meat - and I'm Not Talking About in Pipes! (Long Post)

Awesome, another smoker! I don't often use fruit woods unless I'm smoking fish, as I find the flavour is just too mild. When I can find it, I actually like to use nut-woods (namely pecan - the shells work well too, just toss a handful in with your chips/chunks/pellets), but for the most part I...

Smoking Meat - and I'm Not Talking About in Pipes! (Long Post)

The recent long-weekend in Canada (Victoria Day) afforded me the chance to play around with barbequeing on my (propane) grill. After some trial and error, I am producing a flavour profile and smoke-ring that is almost comparable to my Bradley (commercial grade) rig. In addition, I was playing...

Don't Smoke it, It is Horrible

The newly released New York Pipe Club Hell's Kitchen Balkan for me.

    Scary Pipe

My sentiments exactly - that is simply amazing work.

    Diablo 3!!!! :D :D :D

Meech, a couple of times a year I get an email noting my accounts(yes, I was a boxer) have been reactivated for (x) days. Fortunately, I am able to ignore the siren-song for now... Back in my hey-day, however, I was a dedicated (read: had no life) raider in both EQ and EQII; often spending six...

    Diablo 3!!!! :D :D :D

Yet another member of the "I really, really want to play that new MMO, BUT..." crew. It's disturbing, really; I've been off of the "Evercrack" for almost four-years now - and yet I still get the urge to re-up my subscription at least once per week.

    Having Fun NOT!

Agreed; I often clench an unlit pipe on the rare occasion that I'm working but unable to smoke. It's actually become my best advertising tool - at industry fairs and trade-shows, my unlit smoking implement helps me to stand out from the other consultants and lawyers vying for a slice of the pie.

Help me to grok the cob

tslex, it's kind of funny you brought up the shape my cobs all look like pokers, while my only spool (hourglass) is briar. For the record, neither shape really excites me... In addition to the reasons listed above, I have a couple more plus' in the cob column. Firstly, cobs are ridiculously...

Awesome Filter Idea for MM Cobs!!!

I do exactly this - although I like to trim off a half-inch, and wrap the remaining dowel with a bit of tin-foil (a half inch strip, wrapped around to bring the OD to 6mm), so I can use it to reduce the draw in any 6mm filter pipe.

    Your people's favorite blend

My wife likes pretty much anything from the aromatic range of tobaccos, and like many, despises Latakia. Her biggest complaint, however, isn't about the actual room-note, but rather the smell of the smoke on my facial hair and clothing afterwards.

Pipe Sweepstakes- In memory of Sonny

I'm very sorry to hear about your loss; pets really are part of the family unit...in many ways, better companions than the actual people in said unit. Know that many a piper will be reflecting upon him over their next bowl; myself included. There are three carvers who really get me excited when...
