Someones misfortune proved perfect for us.....

You know that you could have told us that you gave that annoying tree a good 'karate' chop and made a bench! LOL

I Visited the Nat Sherman in Manhattan

@Sallo: Glad you were able to visit the shop and take some pictures to share with everyone. The NYC pipe club settles there a few times per year; the last time was about 2 weeks ago celebrating Nat Sherman's 85th anniversary with their new blend, 85. Please forgive me for not remembering the...

Sorry, I Just Don't Get It.

Ok, I'll admit it. Just as Seacaptan wrote, I actually thought that pipe was a joke or a 'come on' for his actual pipes. But then I just watched the video of the rubic's cube. This man is amazing.

Had to try Captain Black for myself.....

For years I smoked Capt Black in all of their varieties, Amphora, some other names that I just can't remember. This was in the late 1970's. That's all I knew and i can clearly remember that no one complained about that 'awful stink'. Now that I'm smoking the 'good stuff', complaints...

Estate Bang-Is It Worth The Money?

I've tried to study up on Bang pipes, but I've not found any distinct way of telling the age of their wares, other than the fact that in-1984 when the factory was purchased by Noltensmeier and Hansen and the name was changed from the Cobenhaven to Kobenhagen. Do you know of any other indications?

Percent of Pipe Smokers that are Hobbiest?

Perique: I have a wife and an adult daughter, and by the amount of handbags, shoes, beauty products, house decorating stuff, quite honestly, my pipe hobby truly pales in comparison.

Estate Bang-Is It Worth The Money?

@clicklick: The fit on this stem to the mortise is perfect and the button and end piece are beautifully done. Just what I would expect from a Bang pipe. What about the stem gives you that indication?

Estate Bang-Is It Worth The Money?

Foggy-I have four Dunhill's left and I'm keeping them. I was only saying that one can get a great pipe from Rad Davis at much less money than my purchase of an S. Bang. I purchased this Bang for $500.00 with free shipping. I have seen several Bang's going for over $1000, but usually they are...

A Visit to Pipe Repair Specialist Howard Schulte's Shop

@Newbroom Great story. There is nothing like watching a master do his thing, whether it's pipe repair or a butcher slicing up meat. Their hands move in such co-ordination making the tasks look so deceptively simple. Thanks for posting.

    Pipe Smoking in Tarantino Films

Since 'Inglorious Basterds' I've become a Tarrantino fan. His newer films are really connecting with me. Love the pipe smoking emphasis in the '8'.

How Could You Possibly Resist This Deal?

Never mind the pipe, I'm interested in the nutsack scratcher. Are there any papers with it?

Estate Bang-Is It Worth The Money?

Gentlemen Thanks for your responses. I do not collect pipes for resale, or to have a 'collection'. I buy them to smoke, plain and simple. As time goes on I'm selling those that no longer meet my standards since in least in the case of PAD, I'm looking for quality, not quantity. I had...

What is your single most favorite pipe?

J & J bent Dublin with exotic trim. Came with a matching tamper. Certainly not the most costly pipe I own, but whatever i smoke in it tastes great.

Estate Bang-Is It Worth The Money?

There seems to be 3 choices on photobucket and I'm never sure which one to press. Value for resale was not what I was aiming for, although in my history I never seem to 'win' in selling any pipe on the estate market other than getting rid of a pipe I no longer want. I was trying to address the...

    Nightcap or 965?

My first try with nightcap was overwhelming on an empty stomach- lesson learned. I remember standing up and wobbling around. Lol 965 during the day, great smoke Nightcap after dinner-another great smoke Jud. Standard never really did much for me, found it kind of bland

Am I the ONLY fellow who simply cannot abide Perique?

Tslex You are not alone I do not get ill from Perique, but I find that that 'spicy' taste is a bit too much for me. Strange, because I do enjoy spicy food. Early on when joining the forum, I was directed to all manner of flakes and I stocked up on them, many with Perique. I still smoke them...
