Finding a Specific Pipe Style w/o eBay

If you have a rep with smokingpipes.com (VIP status), you can tell them what you’re interested in and sometimes they may contact you if they notice something that matches. Hit and miss, though. I don’t think it’s automated. And then the rep changes. The bottom line is you need to invest some...

    Andreas Bauer Meerschaum Band Deciphering

A photo is essential because the date is affected by the shape surrounding the letter and the font used for the letter. Most likely, you’re looking at a Birmingham hallmark. My guess is that the “+” is the top of the Birmingham anchor city mark. The lion indicates England...

    Jason Patrick Pipes

I was interested in that bamboo one, but it was already sold. Jason is also a really nice fellow and has quickly become a very skilled pipe maker.

    Clips for a Pipe Wall

That's how I store most of my pipes. I wish mine fit so artfully in the various drawers they're in. I really need to pare back. In terms of practical storage, a toolbox with shallow, full extension drawers is perfect. No light means less concerns about stem oxidation, too.

    Clips for a Pipe Wall

At minimum, stay far away from the metal conduits clips. I bought a collection of 24 unsmoked high-grade James Upshalls that were mounted in a very cool retro cabinet. Unfortunely, they used those conduit clips which, by design, have sharp edges along the inside to grip into the conduit. They...

    Advice on a Parker?

I think I have ten Parkers in my collection, most (or possibly all) of which belonged to Mike Reschke at one time. Sadly, I joined CPCC a year too late to have met Mike, who was a founding member and long-time president, but I am honored to call his widow, Nancy, my friend. He was the undisputed...

    Advice on a Parker?

I assume that you bought them at The Pipe Shop on Leith Walk. Delightful little shop! I've just finished season 3 of a series called Guilt, which centered on a crime family based on Leith. They sure made Leith sound hardscrabble, to borrow a term from Joe Biden. My wife and I walked from the...

    Pipe Documentary

Great documentary. Features Lee Erck, who is one of the great gentlemen of the pipe community.

    Teapots

These are designed to use very large tea leaves and multiple very short brews from the leaves. Most loose leaf British teas are too small for convenient use. These are also only about 6oz in capacity and intended for brewing tiny.servings.of 1.5 to 3 oz.

    Teapots

That's the pot I had in mind as you described your criteria. I think we had one in every AirBnB we rented in Ireland and also in a few cafes. Forlife brand, IIRC.

    Orlik Vintage, Anyone?

Sorry, no. I had seen this description: "This pipe tobacco is created using the same blend as Orlik Golden Sliced but is left cooking in the press for significantly longer."

    Konstantin Shekita

They were. One came home with me. Mostly I purchased it to support Ukraine, but I've heard good things about how well his pipes smoke.

    Orlik Vintage, Anyone?

Not just a press, but one that heats the tobacco at the same time.

Valiant Lady Pipes sells his pipes — at least those to support Ukraine. I imagine she might be able to help. valliantlady@gmail.com

Comoys - Transplant a C drilled Stem Logo

The thing is, it’s not one piece. First, a piece of white rod is inserted, making the dot forming the C. Next, a smaller hole is drilled in the center of that white dot and a back rod is inserted, forming a circle. Finally, another hole is drilled which intersects the right side of the circle...

I have a couple of them. A black standard sandblasted one and this one, which started as a Heritage finish. These are among my best smoking Petersons.

    Show us your Ugliest Pipes!

Me too, although mine is smoked. The thing was intentionally beaten up, like those expensive torn and tattered jeans that some women like to wear. It was acquired as part of a purchase of a collection. It’s not something I would have picked up on my own. I do miss his podcast, though. Great long...

The Pheasant Run Years of the CPS will be Missed

Unfortunately, this is not something resigned to the past. We were extremely fortunate this year with the weather. Mid-April can be anywhere from the low-40s to the low-80s here in Chicago. It’s our rainiest month. We’ll be moving back to the first weekend in May for at least the next two...
