    Silly Pipes, show us one.

That jobey dansk is mighty odd! I'd feel as if I were smoking a pair of bagpipes

    Silly Pipes, show us one.

Not in a million years, that pipe's made out of plastic. You can see the mould line on the close up of the bowl and mirror.

What is that gray coating inside a new pipe bowl?

It's called carbonisation. It's basically a carbon based lining so you supposedly don't have to 'break it in' the same way you might with a bare bowl. It's harmless, and can help quite a lot if youre a new smoker. Probably just a bit of a production error if it blocked the hole.

    Silly Pipes, show us one.

I think you've won this thread before it's even begun. What a very very odd object.

    Pouch lining repair

Learn to do it yourself. Leather working is an incredibly useful thing to be able to do, and now's your perfect chance. If you carefully unpick the threads, then you can repair the lining, and you'd have the perfect template to be able to learn, being as the stitch holes are all in the right...

    Bliss of Unsophistication

I know exactly what you mean. On the one hand, I do like the finer things in life, I can spend hundreds on dinner and wine, and think it's fantastic, but I always feel I'm missing something Years of eating vindaloos, drinking strong drinks and smoking strong tobaccos have however, left my...

Sandblast Close Ups - (image heavy)

Ahh I love sandblasted. They feel so right.

    Kilts

I'm inclined to agree with you but the kilt was only invented in the 18th century to please I think either George III or the prince regent, a notorious fop. Plus you never see scotchmen wearing kilts in Scotland unless they're at a wedding or whatever and also wearing a Bonnie Prince Charlie...

    My Pipe Smoker Starter Kit

Those are some mild tobaccos, you should invest in something more lat heavy. Punchbowles a good starter Latakia I find. Though I'm a big lat advocate

    Beer and Coffee

Thirded on Early morning pipe. If you're drinking some strong dark beer or black coffee I prefer a bit of Nightcap. You can't taste anything else for the rest of the evening afterwards, but it's well worth it.

What's your everyday smoke and pipe?

First thing on a (sunny) morning is Grousemoor in a long stemmed clay First thing on a (rainy) morning is Presbyterian mixture in a rusticated bent rhodesian. For the rest of the day, it's usually a toss up between EMP, Nightcap, Punchbowle, condor long cut or SG's black XX. My habits depend...

    Kilts

Not being Scottish I rarely wear a kilt, as I dont really deem it proper. I do like a nice draft around the old danglies though.

    New Software New Quality

I personally listen to the content not the quality. Never understood griping about quality, a friend of mine is a music technician or whatever you call them, and I'm forever calling him a silly tart for moaning about such things. Ads always seem to be played at larger volumes though, I could...

    Shaving

You cut your house in half and moved it? I can't be reading that right, can I?

    Shaving

Nothing wrong with that Plateau, I use a mulled wine mug my mrs got from a german christmas market years ago :P And when I'm travelling I use an old tin of presbyterian. It amazes me how people manage to make some things so fetishistic, why on earth would you need a razor and brush rotation...

    Pipe Smoking In Books

James bond is an oft overlooked pipe smoking adventure. M is seldom mentioned without his pipe, and the packing, lighting and smoking thereof. For me, M proved to be a much bigger inspiration to smoke a pipe than the Lord of the Rings or Sherlock Holmes. Sitting in a grey building on a rainy day...

    New Use for Tobacco Tins

Ah I love empty tins. Some of mine have fishing gear in, some are survival kits for the car etc. one of them has dirt and fragmented bullet casings from passchendaele in, another's full of an afternoons worth of .22LR. Most useful things ever.

    Shaving

I used to use one of these, but they blunt so fast it's just not worth the money. I use a straight razor I bought in a junk shop years ago, with Kent shaving soap and a brush I bought from a shop equally long ago. I've just run out of sodding soap though, which pissed me off.

A beginner's Pipe Diary. Follow me on my pipe journey : )

Good luck! At the end of the day, the worst thing that'll happen now is you'll snap it off again.

A beginner's Pipe Diary. Follow me on my pipe journey : )

Hah, small world. I live in beaumaris. Definitely stick it in the freezer though, it'll loosen it. Find the diameters and just buy a new one off the internet. No point paying for something you can do yourself
