Stressed Out? Me too. New Rule - Please Read

That can happen lol, but this is looking west from Washington Island and the gentle westerlies coming off of Lake Michigan mostly keep the bugs at bay.

Stressed Out? Me too. New Rule - Please Read

A simple, momentary, but intentional retreat. Sit. Have a pipe. Think about all the lovely things you can put on a peanut butter sandwich. Wait. Did I say that last part out loud? Um, nevermind.

Anybody On Here Actually Had The Coronavirus?

Thank you for asking wintergarden. He had been retired at least 10 years, maybe 20, so nearly 80 I guess, but no medical issues that I knew of. Having said that, I should say that, as far as I have heard, there is no age below which guarantees survival of this virus.

Anybody On Here Actually Had The Coronavirus?

A member of our congregation and an old friend (30 years+) passed away from C-19 just yesterday. He caught the virus traveling. We are gutted. He was a fine man. The tragedy is compounded by the fact that we can't pay our respects properly. Please take this seriously friends.

    COVID 19 and Work...

Our favorite bar has set up a fund for the staff and I made a donation. Life won't be the same if I can't return to having a Manhattan there with my wife on Friday nights. What I do like about what's going on is that it is giving me an opportunity to think about how to support my community and...

    COVID 19 and Work...

My heart goes out to everyone negatively impacted by the epidemic. I am hoping that my favorite bar can weather the storm. Personally I'm working from home - I could write my stuff (patents) anywhere really. Once I wrote an application from a hammock on the beach in Costa Rica... And thank...

How Do You Guys Feel Today About This Virus?

It does feel significantly different. An old friend is in the hospital with the virus, my office is closed, I'm working from home first time in 35 years, worried about my kids taking public transportation, and contemplating going to the grocery store to stock up. Never done any of that stuff...

Why Does a Pipe Smoke Hot?

Fun question: Either combustion is more efficient (releasing more calories) or the property of the wood enables more heat transfer (in the hotter pipe). The answer might be the size and shape of the chamber creates a better draft through the tobacco, increasing the rate of combustion. The...

    Vintage Dunhill Stain Discoloration

Agree with dmcmkt. Appears to me that the coloring varies as a function of the direction of the grain.

Can Horn As A Material Be Fixed?

    @jpmcwjr I think you're correct.

Can Horn As A Material Be Fixed?

Sorry about your pipe! I would guess that the horn material expands and contracts thermally a great deal more relative to the inside material of the stem, and as it cooled (while the interior stem material was still warm) the contraction of the horn caused the cracks to form because the horn...
