    Pipe Tobacco Storage Question

Without reading all that...is there really much to the storage? Leave it in the tin if that is how you bought it and the tin is truly sealed. Otherwise, move it to Ball jars and put it in a place that does not get sunlight.

    Tamper Talk

I made this tamper a while back. I rusticated the body. The little tool is briar on the end. It slides into the end of tamper, has some tension so you can keep it out as far as needed for tamping or use it as a poker.

How Thorough Do You Clean Estate Pipes?

I have pretty much all estate pipes in my collection. I clean as greeneyes says. Then I basically smell the bowl and decide if I am going further. If it looks or smells like goopy aro or even shows signs of being heavily smokes, then I go to the salt treatment where you fill the bowl with...

***What Are You Smoking, June 2020?***

Mixture of Carter Hall and Wilke Gramercy Park (forgot I had some of this in a bag) in a Paul Perri Magnum. This thing is huge.

Will Deeming Regs Hit The Grassroots Smoker?

***What Are You Smoking, June 2020?***

Is Rad Davis on your payroll or what? Damn you have some nice pipes of his and now I want just one...only one...I will never want another pipe if I can just get one of his...

    Done With Aro's

I only have 2 aro's right now. Wilke 191 and Three Blind Moose. Smell good and smoke easy and most important, they don't bite me if I puff a bit too hard.

Give Me the Pros and Cons of Softy Bits

I'm telling you, this is the shit right here: search for Insultab HS-614 1/2 Blk 6 You may have to stretch it a bit to fit over some stems before shrinking it with heat. This comes in a package of 5 6-inch pieces.

    Best Budget English

And regarding Aro-English cross-overs: A good Aro is fine. A good English is sublime. Combined, I would not pay a dime.puffy

    Best Budget English

I have not bought bulk yet as I have so many tins stored away, but I have been thinking about this same question and plan to get small samples of several Stokkebye (17 Luxury English, 52 Proper English, 306 Supreme Oriental) blends. Previous reply mentions Arango Balkan and that is also one I...

A Discussion to Change the Pace.

My Grandfather smoked a pipe. He was a kind and gentle man and I remember him walking around with his pipe in his mouth, sitting on the front porch smoking, and of course the smell just takes me back to that time in a flash. My Mom kept his pipes after he died many years ago and about 10 years...

Great feedback. Reading troyniss reply makes me realize that what I am trying to do with this information may be folly. I'm sure it is possible for me to not like Escudo, yet like Bullseye Flake. Same with saying Squadron Leader represents English...I'm sure there are too many variations in...

***What Are You Smoking, June 2020?***

No pic this morning, but loaded Plum Pudding in a really small cob for a quick smoke before starting work. Love that incense-like smell of the Plum Pudding when burning.

Give Me the Pros and Cons of Softy Bits

There is a food-grade heat shrink called Insultab. I cut an inch of that and put it on every pipe and shrink it to fit. It does not add bulk to the bit, but still gives my teeth bite for clenching and protects the original bit. If you don't like the bulk added from a softy bit, you might try...

Effective Tip for Cleaning Bent Stems to Minimize Damage

I have a bore scope for guns that I inspect the inside of my pipe stems to make sure they are perfectly smooth. Ok...I don't really do that.

I agree dquisenberry, that is probably the best indication of what is most popular in each genre type. Thanks for that.

I forgot Burley. I would probably have listed Aged Burley Flake in my list, but I don't have a lot of burley experience so not saying it represents quintessential. Tell me what you think belongs in any group though if you have an opinion on that group.
