    Lighter Recommendations?

I used Vesta matches and a Xikar Scribe lighter Then I started to use Hempwick with a Flickwick And now I use nearly always the Flickwick. The big advantage I see with the hempwick is that it is the softer flame available, I can control the flame much better both at lighting up and on...

Blends That Taste Like They Have Syrian Latakia

[Otherwise, I'll keep my eyes peeled for HH Vintage Syrian] For a taste of Syrian I would probably suggest McClelland 3 Oaks Syrian. First of all because even if the % of Syrian is lower it is not covered by other components in HH such as Kentucky and second because there is also the Cyprian...

Blends That Taste Like They Have Syrian Latakia

[Anything that's latakia light. The Syrian latakia blends that I've had--Renaissance, Brebbia Preludio Mixture No.60, Mac Baren Vintage Syrian--all seem to demonstrate that the Syrian leaf is softer in every way and not as smoky as the Cyprian.] Syrian leaf being mild and softer compared to the...

Best B&M Tobacco Stores in America

I would ad to the list Peretti in Boston.

Anyone Ever Smoke a Cigar in a Pipe?

[I was watching a video on YouTube recently where a cigar smoker reviews a thing called a Pigar. It's a pipe especially made for smoking cigars. ] Jobpipe is a producer/vendor of pipes for cigars (you can google them). I never tried a pipe dedicated for cigars as I am able to adapt the cigars...

Anyone Ever Smoke a Cigar in a Pipe?

I sometime smoke the second half of the cigar in the pipe when the cigar is becoming hotter and harsher. Placing the cigar in the pipe cool down significantly the smoke bringing up the experience closer to the first half which I prefer.

    Plug Tobacco Suggestions

[Has anybody here tried to press their own plug? ? I can't imagine it'd be that difficult. You may not be able to apply the same force as a factory, but you could probably get by with a form and a vise.] I am not an expert at all but I suspect there is more than just pressing to get a quality...

    Pipe Screens

[Screens aren’t for tobacco pipes. ] Let's try to put order for giving the correct information to people who are inquiring, particularly if they are beginners and if they have trouble with suboptimal combustion. Provided screens are not used by the great majority of tobacco pipes users and that...

Expensive Pipes ~ Should I Smoke Them?

Going back to the original question posted I would say that if the hypothetical loss of the pipe due to improper use is something considered financially not sustainable it should not be bought to start with as I think the pipe is a tool and should be used. And only the owner of the object can...

    Preferred SG Blend?

As I am partial to plugs and given it is a gift to yourself I would say FVP out of your list. However, if you have access to FVP you should have access also to the others SG plugs and I would consider also the St. James plug given you have in your list the flake version, or if you want to...

    Pipe Screens

While the screens are mainly used for weed the reason of their use with tobacco pipe, in addition to avoid the obstruction of the draft hole, is mainly to create an air chamber below the tobacco to improve the combustion. I sometime use them and they actually improve the combustion if you shape...

    Ideal Humidity For Tobacco Storage

[ if you’re going to leave the tobacco in tins and bags. I think that over time the flavors of the tobaccos would bleed over into each other.] I concur with craig61a the concern that leaving opened tins and bags together would end up flavors mixing each other. If you want to keep in the tins...

Long Term Cigar Storage in Mylar Bag

[Mylar bags would work great for your cigars if you like mold. Humidors are not air tight nor are they meant to be air tight. Cigars aren't pipe tobacco. If the cigars you put into the mylar bag were dry enough, might not be a problem with mold. But I certainly wouldn't put anything in there...

Long Term Cigar Storage in Mylar Bag

First of all I 98% smoke pipe and only occasionally cigars which I buy just in small number for immediate use. I am thinking now to buy 1 or 2 boxes of nice cigars with the plan of aging some of them for 2 or 3 years. I am very well aware the way to go should be with an humidor but I don't...

Are Cuban Cigars Sold From Switzerland Different?

["Would a manufacturer make a "special" cigar for two small markets?"] Definitely possible, for example in completely different markets like fashion manufacturers keep different product lines for different markets. In the case of Cuban Cigars if there is any difference I don't think it would be...

Are Cuban Cigars Sold From Switzerland Different?

I heard that Cuban Cigars sold from Switzerland (and Spain) retailers are of higher quality. I don't know if this is true or just an hurban legend. Maybe cigars sent to these two countries are going to have a more strict quality control? Anybody has an idea if this is true or not?

    Squadron Leader vs. ?

Squadron leader is a great mixture which I consider probably the best balanced of all the English blends in the way that no component is predominant and they all fuse very well. If you want to try something else you should decide if there is some component you would like more prominent, for...

    Are thepipeguys.com Still in Business?

[doesn't appear to be working.. I tried to checkout and it won't let you. I'd take some $5 erinmore tins.] Exactly same thing with me. It looks like they are a ghost shop.

    Are thepipeguys.com Still in Business?

The site is still up but when i tried to purchase something recently I received an error message at checkout something like the transaction cannot be finalized. I think it is a ghost site.
