Heartbreaker: Comoys 1057 Blue Riband Giant

Thankfully, by the time I saw this one, it was probably already sold (someone in Mass!). http://www.ebay.com/itm/261729522059?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Despite the sellers dubious reputation, I seriously considered hitting the "BIN" button (it sold moments...

    "Who Made That Pipe" (book)

This book is often referenced in the various pipe forums. I had some Ebay bucks to use this month, so I grabbed a copy. From what I've read, this was a hand published book (GBC bound, photocopied pages). Does anyone else own a copy or have any feedback on the book?

    Orlik Deluxe L9 (Author)

We don't see many Orlik pipes on this forum and indeed, this is the first one I've owned. The Shape 9 was right my alley, so I took a chance on this one from another pipe forum classified. Fortunately, forum member CakeandDottle has the definitive Orlik information page on the web...

    Sasieni Ashford Walnut

I was fortunate to find yet another Sasieni Ashford to round out my group, this one in Walnut finish. The pipe was restored nicely by the seller but it had one bowl dent to remove. I put some additional pictures and info on the Reborn Pipes blog...

    Bodacious Brits on Ebay Today!

Some very interesting pipe auctions ended today, primarily a brace of unsmoked Barlings. http://www.ebay.com/itm/381067343734?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.com/itm/371199457067?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT...

    Peterson Barrel Restoration

This little "Barrel" was in a box of estates a few weeks ago at the JB Hayes shop in Winchester VA. I'm not a fan of the p-lip stem but couldn't resist restoring this little gem (22 grams). A member of this forum grabbed it from the Buy/Sell/Trade section last week. The restoration details...

    Sasieni Ashford Rustic

A few months ago, at the Philly club meeting, Samthecoffeeman showed me a Sasieni Ashford in Rustic finish. Until I held a Sasieni in this finish, I didn't appreciate the work. So, when this Ashford Rustic went off last night, I couldn't resist. A Thanksgiving night auction end time helped...

    Comoys 440 Tradition

Remember when I said that I was done buying pipes for the year, unless a 440 shape showed up? Well..... This 440 Tradition popped up last week. I can't recall the last time a 440 showed up on Ebay. I think the last one was in in the summer of 2013 (a Blue Riband, purchased by Neill Archer...

    British "Holy Grail" 7-Day Set

For the past two years, I've maintained a "Holy Grail" list of specific, primarily British-made shapes. With the recent additon of a Dunhill CK, I realized that I now have a seven day set of of classic British Rhodesians and Authors. Here's the full set, from Top to Bottom: Sasieni Ashford...

    Dunhill CK Shell -1971

As I mentioned in the Dunhill Shape 29 thread, I finally found a CK in Shell finish that is dated from 1971. The pipe arrived today and only needed to have the stem shined up a bit. The pipe is a Group 4 and weighs right in my sweet spot at 44 grams. One surprise is that the pipe is a 6 mm...

    Kaywoodie 8783B "Drinkless" ('35-'38)

I've had the Kaywoodie Shape 8783B on my wish list and recently found this "Drinkless grade pipe. The stinger and stamping make it easy to date the pipe to 1935 to 1938. The pipe only needed a mild restoration but the plugged stem took a while to clear and had me worried for a short period...

    Ebay Strangeness - Thoughts?

    Kaywoodie "Drinkless" 7716 ('36-'38)

I found this little bent billiard at a Pennsylvania flea market. I was surprised to see the four digit shape number and larger, 4-hole stinger. I just finished the restoration last night, with the details here: http://rebornpipes.com/2014/11/01/kaywoodie-drinkless-7716-restored/ Before After

    Kaywoodie Supergrain Churchwarden (Shape 95)

What do guys with long pipes and big feet have? .......Long socks. I've been searching for a Kaywoodie Church warden for several months. Thru emails with member Gary, a Kaywoodie enthusiast, I learned they are somewhat rare. Well, that fits as my other pipe shape favorites...

    French Mystery Author (and gift!)

Today in the mail, I was delighted to find a package from Mike Gluckler at Briar Blues. It contained a wonderful little paneled Author, from France. Mike knows me me well and thought thought I would appreciate this shape. I sure did Micheal, thanks for the thoughtfulness! Not surprisingly...

    Castello Trademark KK Bulldog

I've been searching for a smooth Castello Shape 54 that was in my budget AND in my size preference. In the past two years, I sold two Sea Rocks that smoked wonderfully but were just too large. I was looking for a pipe under 50 grams. I found this Trademark KK bulldog at TheBriarPipe.com and...

    GBD 549 New Standard Restored

I picked this up at the Richmond CORPS show. I already have two 549's, so I thought this would be a fun project and resell it. One of the forum members here is the new proud owner. After smoking it to make sure the stem tightened, I almost decided against selling it! The restoration details...
