    Manual Transmissions

Yes I prefer a manual. Also like the fact that if you get a flat battery you can clutch start it to get out of trouble, with an auto you are stuck.

    Savinelli Pipes Briar

Yes, they are good, I have a year pipe and several autographs, great engineering and grain (better than Castello IMHO.......oops

Anyone UP For a 1400.00 Savinelli?

That particular pipe has the *** marking which you normally don't see in that Giubileo d'Oro model. Yes, testing the market, since the Autograph range usually has nice pipe in the range of say $700 that look to have better grain. I always thought their whole Giubileo d'Oro range was too steep in...

    Grain Pattern Discussion

Some of my high grade smooth straight-grain pipes show the ring grain pattern clearly, so I do not think sandblasting is necessary to see that pattern but it is more pronounced if sandblasted.

    Anyone Use Gauzes?

I tried screens several times and they do work but now I tend to use the "sacrificial tobacco" method.

    Moretti Castello 55 Clones

The secret is out! I have been collecting his pipes for years, outstanding in all aspects. Now he will start increasing his prices (and possibly rightly so, he deserves the recognition).

    BaccyFlap Vs. FlapJack

It took me more than 2 years of ebay searching but finally found a near mint Wunup Baccyflap that I am so happy with! So you know my vote....

The Black Swan Shoppe - Wakefield England

I have ordered from them a few times, no problems, good to deal with.

    Switching Stems?

I saw somewhere on one of the pipe related retail sites that you could buy replacement stems for churchwardens for under $10, maybe investigate that route also?

American Consignment Tobaccos at Larrysson Pipes

Thanks, yes it is a good alternative. Prices are a bit high but I guess that is what the market is at the moment.

    Another Dunhill Dating Question

Thank you all for the replies, it seems then that 2017 production may be the best fit. Much appreciated.

    Another Dunhill Dating Question

I tried to understand the posted references but my tin did not seem to match. I will try and post a pic later after more study but in the mean time.... a friend picked up a few tins in Seoul of Dunhill Flake, made in Denmark with the code of CB027L01, any guess here if it was old stock or newer...

The Tobacco You Reach For Without Thinking

Good question which got me to thinking how I select tobacco. Amazingly I find I select the pipe first and then think what tobacco I want to load it with. So I guess I do not fit into the reach for without thinking really.

    Wax Drip Commission Pipe

Actually when fishnbanjo posted photos of several of his wax drip pipes about a year ago I asked him who made one particular pipe and it was Russ Cook. Really sad that banjo is not with us anymore, he is well remembered by us all though. I was on that other forum for more than 10 years and...
