    Amphora

As the Pipedia article says, these pipes were made in the Netherlands by the Royal Dutch Pipe Factory. I’m quite a fan of Big Ben pipes, and I can say that the company is very reliable. Also, at one point in Europe, you could get an Amphora pipe by mailing in a few empty Amphora tobacco pouches...

Found a pipe collection at a thrift store!

    So Much Information Everywhere, Yet..

Internet communities often have a small group of opinion leaders and a large majority who simply repeat what they’ve learned—correctly or not—from those leaders, usually with little real-world experience in the subject they’re discussing. Sometimes one of those repeaters ends up becoming an...

Found a pipe collection at a thrift store!

The Sasieni Four Dot, the Danish Ben Wade, the Larsen, the Caminetto, and the Dunhill are the highlights of the collection. GBD pipes may also be included, but I don’t have that information. The value will depend heavily on their condition and specific models. I recommend checking completed eBay...

Found a pipe collection at a thrift store!

“Although we are not experts, we can give an honest answer about how much we would pay for the pipes. It may not be a representative market value, but it is a good starting point.”

Found a pipe collection at a thrift store!

If you're the same person who posted on Facebook, I'd say the whole lot is worth a few hundred dollars. It's an attractive, mid-range collection: ideal for enjoying, but not particularly valuable. Some of the brands you mentioned might have some value depending on the specific pipe. Others...

    Why are some pipes “expensive”?

Because that watch is an unnecessary exercise in haute horlogerie, and its market prestige is based on an aspirational price and celebrity endorsements. Any servicing will have to be done in Switzerland, will cost as much as several luxury watches, will take a year, and besides, it's frankly...
