but not a Barling, true Barling's stopped years ago ,I would suggest when the family connection ceased.same as many famous makes rebooted in name only throughout industry.
BSA motorcycles,Jaguar cars etc:)
A great leader of "The Invicibles"
the 74 tour the first lions tour I really followed, the names of the players form that tour have gone down in history .Anyone for a "99"
who was the restorer ,one to avoid!!
why buff out the remains of the logo? surely its not too hard to work round the logo with a bit of sympathy ,that's what i do if cleaning up a pipe with a weak logo, even if it leaves a bit of oxidisation.
nothing wrong with used pipes,I cant buy any pre62 Barlings Make or pre republic Petes at my local tobacconist's brand new .But with a bit of searching I could find them as estate pipes:)
I notice there are no photos of the system sump/well before cleaning, were they to bad for public consumption?:)
Going on the amount of cake/lava I assume the pipe hadnt had much cleaning in its previous life
congratulations on a great job
and that is it,it is your opinion and only your's that matters.your money your enjoyment
I personally dont like the pipe,so wouldnt buy it but others might.
I have no problem with that
I wouldnt spend that kind of money any a pipe, but have spent 3 times that on a 50 year old motorbike
I think you may well be correct,I was in touch with him quite a while back and he had been having some health issues. He has not had anything for sale on ebay for a very long time now
A pity as he was the only restorer in the UK that I know apart from estatepipeshop.co.uk in Wales
yes you are, mine thunderbird ,s hardly lasted 14 weeks.
The first one the spring on the gas on/off lever broke and the second one the valve stopped sealing after a refill
