Third gen 3-star Lovat. The carving was uncommon on Lees, but not on their Briarlee seconds. Couldn’t get all the oxidation off without buffing out what’s left of the stars, and left the little bit of rim char as a reminder someone else loved it first. And that push stem hints at it being a very...

Anyone like Bulldogs? This 1st Gen 3-star has a wee bit of char on the rim, but some lovely straights and birdseye.

Picked up this 1st Gen coral rusticated Apple from Tim West at the Columbus pipe show. Slight charring on the rim, but otherwise great condition.

Ok, Alright Already! I Finally Got a Pipe by Lee.

Very nice find. That third pic makes the stars look stamped rather than metal inlays. Before buffing the stem, make sure they’re metal. If they’re stamped, any liquid deoxidizer or buffing wheel will destroy them…cover stamped stars with a small piece of tape and buff by hand. Thanks...

    1940s Pipes by Lee Catalog

Yes, I have one with the 1938 Pat. Pending, two with dual patent 1938/1941, and seven with the 1941 patent. Four are Lees, the rest Lord Davenport. Two of the Davenports have 2 7-pt stars and one has 2 5-pt stars, so there must have been collaboration of some kind, and spanning the first two...

Pipe by Lee 1-Star Bent Billiard Cleanup

One is. Two have the cheaper screw stem with the metal plate, and one has a push stem.

I love these little Strollers. What looks like tooth chatter near the button on this Author is actually smooth as glass…black super glue fill that didn’t stay black.

Pipe by Lee 1-Star Bent Billiard Cleanup

I’ve never seen a 7-pt 1 star pipe for sale, but they made at least one because they photographed it for the catalog I have. Of my eight 1 star pipes, four are 3rd Gen stamped, so they’re out there.

    I didn’t, and I don’t have a Briarlee Oom Paul yet. Bummer.

This Bulldog arrived in near immaculate condition. I did nothing but a sanitizing. For a seconds line, this one has fairly nice grain…I love the birdseye on the rim and undercarriage.

Nothing fancy, but a nice Illustrious Dublin. Left a little of the rim edge char because I like the small scars that remind me someone loved the pipe before I did.

Show Off Your BBK (Bru Bu) Pipes Here

Came across this BBK Billiard in a junk store in western NC last year. Just did a cleanup rather than full-on restoration. What silver plating is left is a bit pitted, but still polished up OK. Last pic shows someone scraped the inside of the lid with a sharp point. Any suggestions on smoothing...

This 2nd Gen 2-star Churchwarden cleaned up nicely. I have a couple others, but both are 3rd Gen stamped stars.

The grain on that bullmoose really is something. Those collaborations are interesting. Which of the two patent numbers are stamped on yours? The first was awarded in 1938, the second in 1941. I have 4 Lees and 5 Davenports. Three of the Davenports have Lee-style 7pt stars and the later patent...

As @telescopes said, yes. When they’re really gunked up, I’ll rig the stem to stand vertically in a glass and fill it with enough 90+% alcohol to cover the stinger. A good soak usually does it. If you have trouble getting it apart after that, DM me.

I’ve been lucky to have found Strollers in about a dozen different shapes. They’re quite sturdy little pipes. All of mine are at least partially rusticated, so the briar had flaws. But they’re perfect—as the name implies—for a stroll.

Love the thick walls and nice grain.
