    Two word. Chamber dimension. Personally prefer wide chamber. But occasionally, narrow ones work for VA and VA dominant blends. Shape of the pipe is just cosmetic.

    Basically you are moving ember closer to the tobacco. Do it gently. Too much pressure and you kill the ember or cut off the air circulation in the chamber

    Too lazy to open everything to move to jars. I only move them if I open them. After opening, you want them to breath anyway. You'll notice remarkable difference after two weeks or so. Something like Peterson/Dunhill Navy Roll will completely change in a month or so to deep dark fruit note.

    Inhale in pipe smoking basically means drawing the smoke into the mouth, no further. Retrohale, blowing out of your nose. Don't really want the pipe smoke in your lung, but some do inhale deep.
