    No Luck with Hallmark

Re: the blog: I see now. This is explained in detail and it's not an intuitive thing these days, though maybe back then people really focused on it. The effect is really cool. Hmm...Makes me really think about this pipe on offer.

    No Luck with Hallmark

Fascinating. Well, the threaded tenon does look rather short to me and the info says it's loose. Hmm...that's a shame. This kind of coloring with the matte-like effect just looks great to me. But, if there's a question about the stem, maybe I should not. A threaded stem seems like amber but it...

I think this could be a K in Glasgow.

    No Luck with Hallmark

Thanks so much all! I haven’t purchased this but I’m thinking about it. This kind of mystery gets me going. Hope I didn’t put anyone out. BTW, does anyone know how a pipe colors like that?

It could be a Chester K, but the city…Chester has 3 doohickies.

    No Luck with Hallmark

I’m interested in this pipe but I can’t figure out the hallmark. It looks like an amber stem so I don’t think it’s post 1920s. I wonder if anyone has an idea? I’ve check all the cities and 1. I can’t figure out which city it is and 2. I can’t match that ornate H with a year in the right...

Show Off Your Castello Pipes Here!

Smoking this Castello, I notice the quality right away. This pipe feels very solid and well constructed and balanced. I think there is a magic to Castello. There’s something special about the feel of this smoker. Having only smoked vulcanite-s, I’m also surprised by the comfort of the acrylic bit.

    Amber Stem Question

It looks like a quality stem but it also looks a little modern somehow. Would you have taken the challenge or do you think it just can’t be done? I think the diamond shape is part of what makes it a hard ask.

    Amber Stem Question

You might find this interesting from someone who has sold pipes here and who is, I think, well liked. He had an acrylic stem affixed in place of what might have been an amber one. It's a unique looking specimen: Pardon Our Interruption... - https://www.ebay.com/itm/316997923873

    Amber Stem Question

They’re really beau These are beautiful. They really make great looking stems. I want one but I wonder if I’ll just end up avoiding smoking it though. I was also curious if there’s an added mystique about Amber being so ancient.

I saw that one. I was very tempted. I have two of his pipes but I want one with a silver mount. Smart looking pipe.

    Amber Stem Question

Hello folks who have a pipe with an amber stem. Question: Do you get any added joy from owning something that’s millions of years old? They look rather beautiful. What do you think of their aesthetic and technical qualities? Why do you think they’re not used much anymore?

    LC Shape by Tristan

It seems like he drastically changed his style over the last couple of years. His older work seemed more sleek and was mostly stained and mostly smooth. The newer stuff seems more Italian inspired while still seeming French.

    1937 Horn-stemmed Dunhill?

That’s what the seller seems to be suggesting. It doesn’t look like any kind of repair anyone would have done recently.

    1937 Horn-stemmed Dunhill?

I actually do see lots of horn-stemmed Dunhills online from the 30s but none of them have a button like that.

    1937 Horn-stemmed Dunhill?

It is the weirdest looking button setup I’ve ever seen. It Looks Iike someone stuck vulcanite on the end of the horn.

    1937 Horn-stemmed Dunhill?

He’s saying it’s genuine “bovine” horn and I see no reason to doubt him. I’ve seen his pipes before and he does the work on them himself even as far as repairing the stems. He’s got lots of Dunhills on eBay. I think he’s legit. But where’d the stem come from? He’s saying it could have been made...
