Considering stocking up on Watch City & Peretti. What would you buy?

Peretti’s Smith’s Own is a fantastic strong English blend, but apologies if a bit off topic as I don’t know if it has a Sutliff leaf base.

***What Are You Smoking, November 2025?***

A little Thursday night football and some Lord Morgan in a J. Alan apple and Peterson Nightcap in a G. Spitaletti pot. Doesn’t get much better!

    🌟 🎄 🎅 The UnOfficial Official 2025 PM Secret Santa Thread 🎅 🎄 🌟

I don’t have 500 posts, but I’d love to return some of the welcoming spirit that I have received in my first year as a forum member.

    How much do you cellar?

I’ve added about 20 lbs this year over maybe 25 blends, some deeper than others, some aged to smoke now, most for the future (the blends with decent natural sugar content that should age well). I was fortunate to add another 20 tins of Capstan Blue flake to the cellar just a month or so before...

    What are You Reading Now?

I’m finishing up Rutherford’s Paris (enjoyable but not to the same level as some of his other works, like London and Princes of Ireland, imo) and I’m excited for my upcoming yearly treat: every year starting Thanksgiving weekend, I reread LOTR - slowly and deliciously.

    Pipe bits taste?

That makes me feel better about using them. It doesn’t seem to happen on my acrylic stems, but immediately removing the bit from my ebonite stems after each smoke does appears to help - I just recently started doing that. I always rub in a dab of obsidian oil after a smoke and wipe with a soft...

    Pipe bits taste?

I have used rubber bits on some of my ebonite stems and have noticed a slight discoloration - a darkening - where the bit sits if left on the stem for a week or more (or perhaps the stem oxidizes a bit on the part not covered by the bit, though I’m pretty good about using obsidian oil after each...

Would You Rather - Pipe/Tobacco Edition

I have a Former egg that it is an absolute dream to smoke. Multiple blends would be my choice, with that pipe. If I had to choose one blend instead, as of today it would be Quiet Nights, unless I could choose a discontinued blend (similar to being offered a conversation with anyone in history...

    Tongue burn question

I’m fortunate not to suffer from tongue bite, but a friend of mine swears by Petersons with the button that directs the smoke upwards to the roof of the mouth rather than to the tongue directly. He says they completely eliminate tongue bite for him. Good luck!

    Father’s Day Dinner

Now that’s a Sauternes! Seems like a singular evening for you and yours - congrats.

So... What OTHER Hobbies Occupy Your Time?

Have you tried fly fishing? The thinking man’s fish-related rabbit hole.

So... What OTHER Hobbies Occupy Your Time?

If I’m not working or enjoying a pipe, there’s driven birds in the UK or French countryside once or twice a year; upland birds and sporting clays here at home and the associated addiction of English and Italian sporting guns; fly fishing for bones, reds, and tarpon on occasion to stay humble...
