Either this past Christmas or the one before, I was able to get a small tin of this marked 2015. Reading this makes me want to crack the tin and try it.

    Filters or Not? Your Thoughts

I’ve got some pipes with and without filters. I use them interchangeably. Don’t mind the smoke with a filter in or not. However, of late, I’ve been really enjoying my smokes without a filter. If I don’t want to constantly run a pipe cleaner through during a smoke I’ll reach for a filtered one then.

How Often Do You Smoke a Pipe?

I’ll average out about 3-5 times a month. Really depends on the weather. Now that I have my own shop, it’s been more frequent.

    Nicotine or Relaxation?

Solely routine and for relaxing. If others are around, then for a social aspect.

    The Most Disappointing Tobacco

At the moment, Capt Black Black Seas. On its heels, Lane Limited BS-005. I got these almost within a month of each other a few years ago. Tried Black Seas offering and it totally turned me off to Latakia based blends. Just wasn’t for me.

    Little Pipe Stand Project

Excellent work! Well done! Once I get a headboard completed for my wife, a pipe rack will be my next project.

Smoking Tobacco Based on the Season - Yes or No?

I have very few Latakia type blends. Even the ones I do have, I tend to smoke them independent of the weather. I’ll smoke them if I want a more robust smoke. The majority of the blends I do have are VAs and VaPers. So they are enjoyed year round.

Did You Lose Your Taste for Aromatics Over Time?

Don’t think I lost a taste for aromatics as much as I have lost an interest in them. I still will smoke an aro from time to time, but now I just reach for straight VAs and Va/Pers more. There are complexities and subtleties that pique my interest in the latter blends that at the moment I’m not...

    Deep Cleaning Cob Pipes

I have a few cobs and smoke them quite often. My normal routine is to smoke the pipe, let is sit for a bit and then run a spirit soaked wad of paper towel through the bowl after some time. I probably clean the bowl more often than one should but, it’s a cob and they are fairly inexpensive.

    Oldest Smoked Tobacco...

The oldest I have so far is some bulk McClelland 2010 from 2010 oddly enough. Still have 3+oz of it in a jar at the house and smoke some on special occasions. The oldest I’ve had was some Macraines Red Ribbon from 2006. That was excellent all the way from initial light to final puff.
