How Do You Pick Your Next Smoke?

I like this post. My selection is all about timing. Sometimes it's pipe driven. Sometimes it's blend driven. Sometimes it's time driven. If I don't have tons of time, always a Balkan/Latakia blend in ready rub. Those are easy and fast to pack and if I don't have the time to finish, so be it...

Are tobacco reviews really of much value?

I manically consume information about subjects I am passionate about. Tobak reviews are basically everyman written content on one of those subjects. While they may or may not influence my buying or smoking habits, I enjoy the information when the forum is quiet.

    McConnell Blends

Scottish Flake is in stock on SP. If that was the only blend they had available for eternity, it would carry the blend. There was a time right after Covid that McConnell blends were hard to get, now they are almost always in stock on SP. I am speaking of the original blend labels. I think the...

GL Pease Embarcadero - A Blend I Enjoy

So I don't know the blend ratios or anything but Regents Flake by Pease(C&D) and Sunday Picnic by C&D are both VaOr blends. They both sucked right out of the tin. They both became two of my favorites a few weeks in the jar later. They good.

How Do You Organize Your Tobacco Cellar?

More helpful response. I keep my Euro leaf flat tins in one tin. My American Leaf squat round tins in one Cabinet, and my jars all over the place.... Pretty sure I share a pick of the maelstrom before, let me see if I can dig it up.

Jim's Carolina Red Flake with Perique 2025 Review.

@Day2Day While I am not an aged tobak > fresh tobak goon, this stuff with a little time can really shine. It could have been the year of the tin I had as well. Not sure how jarring a fresh tin will change things but I am going to do that with the one I opened after I smoke a couple more bowls.

New pipe, should I be concerned?

Looks like where the stain didn't get in that divot. I had that happen once and just sharped it in.

    New Samuel Gawith tins

I think it's also valid that those dadgum flakes could use some drying. You either do it with relights and puffs or open air or crummy tin seals.. all methods work. :P

    New Samuel Gawith tins

I don't refute the going bad. Just sharing what has worked for me to increase his sample size of info.

    New Samuel Gawith tins

@blametony Option 1. Leave it in TINS. I do this and have never lost one. Option 2. Seal in food saver bags. I also do this and have never lost one. Option 3. Like all other tins after you open or if you want to guarantee a good seal, put in jar. This works BUT can condensate for wetter...

    New vs Cellared Tobacco

There is also letting the blend breath. I have posted about this before. Fresh or old, a newly popped tin can improve substantially after a month or two in a jar. I find this is especially nice on VA/OR blends from C&D/Pease.

    Mold?

it doesn't look like mold to me either.

    New vs Cellared Tobacco

Don't sleep on fresh production. A fresh of tin of virginia can hit in way more gooder ways than an aged one. It really depends on blend, mood, humidity, etc etc. That being said, I always buy 2. One for now, which can sometimes turn into 5 years later, and one for later... like 5 years later...

    Issue Smoking Flakes

Pal, I think that a mid bowl relight is fine. That being said, all of the above is good info. I hit a point where I was tired of cakes, plugs, flakes, etc... Just give me the ready rub. But, nothing really bonds like a flake cut. It's pressed before slicing, letting the juices run between...
