    Antique Shop Finds

I have 4 antique shops within walking distance of my office. I spend far too many lunch breaks wandering aisles. Nice finds!

    Anyone Use Gauzes?

I like the idea of putting some "sacrificial" tobacco in first then topping with my preferred blend. I have several blends that I've purchased only to find that I never want to smoke them again. They just lurk in my tobacco cabinet taking up space because I'm too cheap to throw them out...

    Storing Blending Tobaccos

If you're short of space, I have ample... just send it to me and I'll ahhh "store" it for you

When Do You Smoke Your Pipe?

At work during lunch if it's a pleasant day and I can set out in the sun. This time of year it's usually after dinner. My wife and I are both avid readers so I'll get a fire going in the fireplace and we can settle in for some quite time. Setting next to the fire most of the smoke gets sucked...

    St. Louis Pipe Show 2020

This will be my first pipe show; are there any etiquette rules I should be aware of? I don't know if it's acceptable to bring my own tobacco, if it's okay to smoke in a group, is it okay to ask to smell tobaccos that are for sale? Anything else?

Waiting on My First Pipe in St. Louis

Welcome from another Missourian. If you're interested in meeting a nice tobacconist and getting advice check out John Dengler Tobacconist in St. Charles, MO. If you go to their website and select Tobaccos they have a nice description of their blends.

    Hello from Missouri

I certainly don't have enough to stand out in this crowd, but I have enough that I try not to keep them all in the same place where my wife could get a good count :)

    Hello from Missouri

Got it at the PX in Baumholder, Germany. My platoon sergeant smoked a pipe and I told him I wanted one. He told me to buy a bent stem because a straight stem would poke through my throat if I fell down while smoking it. I was 18 and he was a sage old (probably 35) man, so that sounded like...

    Hello from Missouri

My wife's a Mizzou alum. I think it's lovely that you reconnected. The mother of one of my childhood friends was widowed quite young; she didn't remarry until she was 78. A gentleman she'd dated in high school had been married for a long time and had also been widowed. He'd never stopped...

    Hello from Missouri

Thanks. I lived near Bailey for several years after I got out of the Army. I miss setting out at night enjoying a pipe during a mountain snow storm. There's a special quality of silence that only a snowy mountain night can produce.

    Hello from Missouri

I live southwest of STL on 44. I'm a transplant, but I've been here 18 years. I like Dengler's; the atmosphere is always relaxed. I also like supporting a tobacconist that has been in the same family for 103 years. I'm heading there this weekend and getting ready for the St. Louis pipe show...

    Bjarne Nielsen

I'm looking at my first Bjarne (a volcano), but now I'm going to be on the hunt for a squat bulldog because that's a gorgeous pipe!

    Hello from Missouri

I bought my first pipe (Dr. Grabow bent stem) and first pouch of tobacco (Captian Black Gold) in 1984. I was 18 and both choices were determined by what was available at the PX. Now I have more pipes than I'll admit to publicly and a wonderful tobacconist who has never steered me wrong while...
