Another Trip to the Post Office...

I have a friend who’s into old vacuum tube amps and turntables, and he’s always running the same game: delivery to his office, or someone else’s house, to avoid spousal censure.

Another Trip to the Post Office...

Mail order rental box the next town over, held under a false name?

Another Trip to the Post Office...

I can see your tax return is being spent well this year!

    Corncob vs Hardwood

The freehand model is like a conical stack. That pipe will hold a fair amount of 'baccy. https://www.smokingpipes.com/pipes/new/Missourimeerschaum/moreinfo.cfm?product_id=121649

    Whoa! Some Filter!

I know that Chacom designs and builds quite a few pipe models with stingers. I've always found stingers to be a real PITA, without any redeeming feature. Any "cooling" they accomplish is minimal.

    Corncob vs Hardwood

I should add that Aristocob offers the Diplomat, the Country Gentleman, and 1 or 2 other models in an unfinished state, instead of polished and lacquered versions MM and other retailers sell.

    Corncob vs Hardwood

Only some experience with pipes will tell you what your personal preference is - when it comes to cobs, I almost always prefer the unfinished ones (although the plaster-finished models are good pipes, too). The unfinished versions reduce moisture in tobacco and improve coolness, and as such are...

    Chemical Burn From Chatham Manor

I bought a couple of ounces of this blend, having read it was a finer version of Carter Hall. I don’t know if I got a bad batch, but it was ashy and unpleasant.

    Cult Blood Red Moon

With their “Militia” and “Conspiracy Theory” branding, I assume they’ll need to add “Barbarian Horde “ and “Enemy of the State” to their lineup...followed closely by “Lamentations of Their Women”.

    Cult Blood Red Moon

Didn’t Ross Oulette (sp.?) say that Blood Red Moon wasn’t the same blending and tobacco formulation as TK-6 bulk? I’ve never tried it, so I added a couple of tins to my most recent tobacco order. Wonder if it’ll end to sit out all night on a paper coffee filter before smoking...

Have I Made the Right Choice??

I agree - I've never had a pipe designed with a stinger that worked worth a damn with the stinger in place.

    Drinks That Sting

I'm going to swim against the tide here, and say that cool (but not cold) unflavored mineral water (the kind with carbonation) is what I drink when I smoke a pipe. In the summer, I sometimes squeeze a lime or lemon into it. Some people find coffee admirably suits a pipe, but I'm not one of...

First Smoke in a Briarworks/Moonshine Morta

It seems to have settled down, now that it has a respectable bit of carbon cake on the bowl.

Another Trip to the Post Office...

I do believe @BarrelProof is keeping the pipe-smoking segment of the economy going single-handedly during this corona virus thing!

Opened the Post Office This Morning...

Contemplating a well-stocked setup can't help but give a fella a certain pleasant sense of complacency. Orlik is good 'baccy.

    Jim's C&D Carolina Red Flake w/Perique Review.

That doesn't seem to take to cellaring all that well. Best consumed fresh, I'd say.

    Lighter Recommendations?

I've seen cigar smokers torch the hell out of a perfectly good robusto or corona:oops: by putting the torch flame directly on their smoke, and persist in that behavior.
  18. marlinspike

    Lighter Recommendations?

A lit cedar spill smells pretty good - but yes, why scorch good tobacco with a miniature blowtorch?
  19. marlinspike

    Lighter Recommendations?

Yup. Back when homes were lit by gas, a respectable parlor would have a gas mantel with a burner for lighting spills, particularly cedar ones. Some cigar smokers are purists who insist on using cedar spills instead of matches or butane lighters.
