    Favorite Steak Marinade

I do not use marinades on a quality ribeye. Salt and pepper just before it hits the pan or grill. I marinade other meats such as ribs (beef and pork), pork, chicken, etc. I usually dry rub "marinade" and nothing more. The usual suspects: salt, sugar, pepper, cayenne, garlic powder, onion...

Behold! The Buttner Pipe! 1930s British Innovative/Gimmicky

For us, we have 2 wood stoves and from the beginning of December to the middle of April, one is always stoked or banked. We cook on one when we are a mind to do so. But I concede you are correct in your statement. I would not start a fire to simply clean a pipe. But, if I had a porcelain...

Behold! The Buttner Pipe! 1930s British Innovative/Gimmicky

Do woodstoves count as open fires? If so, just about every house in New England.

What are You Watching? Year 2022

Star Trek Strange New Worlds: Pre-Captain Kirk, this serial is closer to the original Roddenberry TV series in how it feels, and in the plots. No dependence on special effects although they are there. Captain Pike is likable and the Chief Engineer grows on you. Spock is not the cold, logical...

Group Tasting of Ancient Velvet Pipe Tobacco

Very cool! Sorry I missed out on this but these reviews have me wanting to find some Velvet to try. I tried Granger based on Ash's recommendation so why not Velvet?! I will have to wait. Covid is kicking my ass at the moment with 3 straight days of 103+F temps. Taste and smell are gone. Elephant...

    What Was your First Pipe?

A cheap basket pipe followed closely by a 1961 Dunhill root briar.... Inherited from my Dad. Destroyed by my ex-wife.

    Weber Plastic Stinger?

I own 3 Weber Virgin Deluxe pipes and none of these had/have stingers. Thankfully. 2 are great smokers, 1 is adequate.

    SAT Question

I think with a little age it is a good analog to 5100. It will never be 5100 but it doesn't need to be 5100 to be a good smoke. I have some with 3 or 4 years on it and it is a favorite.

    Seeking Exceptional Bourbons

I have a bottle of Pappy in storage that is promised to an esteemed member of our group. He has been incredibly kind to me since I joined. I planned to send it 2 years ago but Covid screwed up all of my travel plans. Hopefully, I will get to Atlanta this year to send it on. I have a purchased a...
