Removing Ash at mid bowl
It is not uncommon for me to dump ash 4 to 6 times, or more, during the course of a bowl. In the past year, I find it makes for a cooler, dryer, smoke and better flavor until the occasionally bitter end. Oh yes, less relights too. :)- mayfair70

Friday, January 20th is shipping day. Holy Cow ladies and gentlemen. On this 4th day (3 and a half technically) of sampling, I have tried 17 tobaccos so far. I've tried to be conservative, but, I have selfishly rubbed out an entire flake of SG Bothy Flake and am still attempting to finish it...- mayfair70

Woodsroad - The pleated 3.5x5's you sent have a great zip seal so far. Airtight. There are quite a few larger bags of various types, and they are holding their own for now. Should I restore my 1937 Dunhill?
That is an amazing pipe. Beautiful. If this were my pipe, the only restoration I would do is a cleaning to remove the char from the rim of the bowl and take a little chatter from the mouthpiece near the button. Franken-mixture, pretty good!
Frankenjars are a pretty standard catch-all in my rotation now. I just finished a Frankenjar and was kinda sad to see it go since it was so tasty. However, I'm starting a new one with scraps of Warhorse Bar, a SG Black Twist and possibly some FVF. Good topic Markthelad. :-)- mayfair70

Dunhill Dating Help Needed
I've yet to get a Dunhill. Very nice pipe!! Regarding the stem... Why do I get the feeling there was a tapered band there? It fits tight as is right? I don't recall seeing bands on Dunhills, but I haven't seen a whole hell of a lot of them. Did they ever come with bands?- mayfair70
