    Blakemar / Blatter mail call!

Very nice. I'm on a bent craze and those look great! Happy Smoking!

    Going between jar and pouch

Now that I have the beginnings of an actual cellar of tins and untouchable jars for bulk, I also have smaller jars and open tins for my current smoking rotation. For an extended foray demanding variety, I will sometimes take two or three tightly packed pipes of different tobacco tucked into my...

    Removing Ash at mid bowl

It is not uncommon for me to dump ash 4 to 6 times, or more, during the course of a bowl. In the past year, I find it makes for a cooler, dryer, smoke and better flavor until the occasionally bitter end. Oh yes, less relights too. :)

    2016-2017 Box Pass Thread

Friday, January 20th is shipping day. Holy Cow ladies and gentlemen. On this 4th day (3 and a half technically) of sampling, I have tried 17 tobaccos so far. I've tried to be conservative, but, I have selfishly rubbed out an entire flake of SG Bothy Flake and am still attempting to finish it...

    Googly Eyed Cob

Thanks Guys! Willie lost his eyes in a Lunting accident. I had used rubber cement and smoked a bowl just prior to the "accident." Thankfully, I found my wood glue and now he has new and improved googly eyes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VARboWFOldA

    2016-2017 Box Pass Thread

Woodsroad - The pleated 3.5x5's you sent have a great zip seal so far. Airtight. There are quite a few larger bags of various types, and they are holding their own for now. The way the box is set up, it will hold just about any sized bag in the right configuration. Your 4x6's would fit, but...

    2016-2017 Box Pass Thread

I received the bags from Woodsroad today. Thank you, sir!! I will set about doing some tobacco transplants during the next week. The bags are a little smaller than I expected, but they will work out wonderfully. There are a few tins which will get bagged. There are a few bags with holes/damage...

My order from pipes and cigars came in today

If brevity is the soul of wit, you, sir, are the wittiest man alive.

Should I restore my 1937 Dunhill?

That is an amazing pipe. Beautiful. If this were my pipe, the only restoration I would do is a cleaning to remove the char from the rim of the bowl and take a little chatter from the mouthpiece near the button. I can't tell if the finish is wearing on the bowl or not. The stamping is quite...

    2016-2017 Box Pass Thread

The box arrived in good shape and smelling of victory. I'm diving in right away. This thing is CRAZY!! Timing is perfect as my birthday is the 18th and I'll ship it out the next day most likely. SO MUCH TOBACCO !! :worship: Oh, no bags yet, but the day isn't over.

    Show me your ash

I'm consistently dumping ash from the bowl as I smoke. That is how mine disappears.

    Franken-mixture, pretty good!

Frankenjars are a pretty standard catch-all in my rotation now. I just finished a Frankenjar and was kinda sad to see it go since it was so tasty. However, I'm starting a new one with scraps of Warhorse Bar, a SG Black Twist and possibly some FVF. Good topic Markthelad. :-)

    Dunhill Dating Help Needed

    Pre Hispanic Tobacco Pipe

I didn't know we had a resident archaeologist.

    Dunhill Dating Help Needed

I've yet to get a Dunhill. Very nice pipe!! Regarding the stem... Why do I get the feeling there was a tapered band there? It fits tight as is right? I don't recall seeing bands on Dunhills, but I haven't seen a whole hell of a lot of them. Did they ever come with bands?

    Pre Hispanic Tobacco Pipe

Birds were a common symbol representing flight and communication with the gods in sacred contexts. On a pipe it meant serious business. In addition to chewing Coca leaves as a stimulant, they had tons of drugs ranging from hallucinogenic toad extracts to various smoking mixtures and fermented...
