"Duh" Tip for Those Who Use Matches

I use Diamond matches that come 32 to a box and are 1 5/8 inches from the supermarket. I also use the box of 250 generic brand 2 1/4 inch kitchen matches that they sell, but I find the flame gets too big, so I usually use them just for the first light. Both are more readily available than cigar...

    Pear Wood (Root) is Underrated

I have four non briar wood pipes; 2 cherrywood, a rosewood, an olive wood and a beech wood that I bought over the years, to see how they smoked and for the novelty. They don't get smoked that often, but they are fun to have. I have heard a lot of good things about the pear wood pipes on this...

    So What Are You Drinking

I usually have a huge cup of tea with just sugar when smoking. This week I am trying Typhoo tea, after a sister in law from England said she prefers it to PG Tips. I like PG Tips better than Typhoo, but there are others that I like even more. So now I find myself "cellaring" tea!

    1949 Dunhill Shell 59

I love the color it developed over the years. Someone took good care of it. It Looks in great shape for it's age. I don't see any marks on the stem; should be an easy cleanup. Hope you got it. I'm surprised that a Dunhill of that era sold for that little. I would like to get one from 1942, my...

    First Rustication Attempt

Nice job on the rustication. It's a moot point since you rusticated the whole pipe, but I think the partial rustication would have looked better if the whole rim of the bowl was rusticated, rather than leaving part of it smooth. What did you use for the stain?

    Proud Father !!!!

Cajundad, your son is a very impressive young man. I was thinking your son was in his twenties, until I saw your post giving his age. Now you have to get him some blocks of briar. That pipe is a treasure beyond measure.
