Red Rapparee - Paradise in a Can

Welcome to the forum, Dave. I smoked Red Rapparee now and then years ago, then I stopped smoking for a number of years. I'll be putting it and some of the other Rattray blends on my list to try. Please share some of your other favorites with us.

    Rounds Vs Square Tins

I haven't gotten around to getting mason jars yet, so I put them in a freezer bag. If they are getting dry, I put a small humidifier disc in the bag. If it's a large quantity not in a tin, I double bag it, to be on the safe side.

Can A Pipe Be Too Beautiful To Smoke? (PICS)

Two nice looking pipes. I use a Cape Cod Cloth on my silver mountings. Neverdull sounds similiar. I think a paper towel can put fine scratches on the silver over time. I would use flannel or a microfiber cloth, instead.

What Are You Smoking? *March 2013*

This afternoon it was Peretti's Royal in a Charatan sandblast pot. Tonight, I'm smoking Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake in a Dividend Lovat.

    Your Favorite Pipe Smoking "Tip"

I've never tried it, but I'm wondering whether the Harry Method works with all cuts of tobacco or just with a ribbon cut. Anybody have any input on this?

    Happy Birthday!!! It's Alberts' Birthday!

His brain was preserved for research before he was cremated and several pieces were sent to different pathologists. If they showed a whole, intact brain, it isn't his.

    Tobacco Review Tips: a Rant...

[Well, you are invited to do a better job. Please by all means write a review.] hfearly, I don't object to some of the flowery language some reviewers use in their descriptions. What I was referring to are some reviews that I have seen where, during the entire review, nothing specifically is...

    Disaster!

Walker charges $18 for delrin and $24 for vulcanite or lucite tenons. Dave recommended delrin to me, one reason being that it is self lubricating.

    Happy Birthday!!! It's Alberts' Birthday!

    Your Favorite Pipe Smoking "Tip"

Buy quality pipes and take your time breaking them in. Keep them clean and give them several days rest. Take care of them and you will still be enjoying them 40 or 50 years from now. The "carburetor" technique is an old trick that I learned back in the early 1960's. I took it for granted that...

    Tobacco Review Tips: a Rant...

Then there are the ones who talk about the burley flavors coming through in a strictly Virginia or Vaper blend. I love the ones who are going for the Nobel Prize in Literature and spend paragraphs comparing the blend to running through a field of daisies on a midsummer day or climbing Mount...

    Tobacco for Breaking In

AS others have said, smoke what you like. However, I don't smoke aromatics and wouldn't recommend breaking in a pipe with them, but that's my opinion. As others have said; it takes time. Have patience and enjoy the process.

New Arrivals . . . Erinmore and Some Classics

New Arrivals . . . Erinmore and Some Classics

I smoked a good amount of Carter Hall and some Prince Albert in cobs while doing yard work last summer. I liked the flavor enough to branch out to Wessex Aged Burley Slice and Solani Burley, which will be a permanent part of my cellar Nothing wrong with the better drugstore blends. Half and...

I don't see the link here. Was the pipe a pot shape? I've seen several pictures of him smoking a pot.
