Washington State Debating Ban on "Flavored Tobacco"

This is the kind of thread that makes the profanities rise up in all of us... These brilliant people are ruining things for everyone. Why must they meddle in the sale of tobacco with bans and restrictions, encouraging contraband and royally ticking off taxpaying adults who are having their...

I think I have turned to the cob

Aristocob is a great seller and nice guy. I bought my first cobs from him and all subsequent ones, too. He's ideal for someone like me who does not have ready access to Missouri Meerschaum pipes, the only brand worth buying. He combines the shipping so that no matter how many you buy, you still...

    Ceder aromatic

There's too much love for vanilla these days for the aromatic manufacturers to go out on a limb and cater to specific tastes like cedar (not sure how that would be possible) or molasses, like I was craving last week. The weirdest aromatic I've seen online lately was Vauen Black Pepper; that...

    Ceder aromatic

You can find cedar aromas in certain red wines, you'll have to enjoy a glass of good Cabernet Sauvignon with some cedar shavings out in the open while you smoke your pipe next time. :)

Noble Pilsner(Sam Adams) not so noble this year and dumned down...

That's too bad. I enjoyed the Noble Pils last year. This year's run isn't in our stores yet. Sam Adams is always accused of variation and recipe modification. I haven't had enough of them to personally verify the claims. I wouldn't be surprised, though. I guess I'll have to stick with Pilsner...

    What a corncob pipe :/

I hear you, cornguy. It pays to pick up the additional stems, that's probably the first and/or only thing to give out on the pipes. They take quite a beating and still smoke very pleasantly. I'm not a cob snob but my experience has been limited to MM by choice; I will some day buy some briar(s)...

    Cob Question

I'm not a big smoker, I'm pretty sparing with my tobacco so I wouldn't go through a whole lot of filters if I set out to use them all the time. A milder smoke also isn't a bad proposition to me if it catches a nice bit of tar and ash particulates.

    Cob Question

Does anyone find a benefit to these filters if you discard them with every smoke and replace them with new ones? The chief complaints I've heard about them is that they get wet, dirty, and smelly - I've smoked with them before in a new pipe without realizing it until I removed the stem the next...

    Tobacco shipped to Canada

I never considered that one before, papipeguy... Should one be in desperate need, at least. Once again, I just took for granted that B&Ms wouldn't go to the trouble to deal with Canadians. Many online retailers and even eBay sellers won't send tobacco products to Canada. I had one guy refuse to...

    What the Fudge!

I'll make an effort to avoid off colour language. I don't think I've been bad on the forums but in person profanities pepper my speech quite a bit. It doesn't translate well into the informal written word, though. As lordnoble said, they lose their effect pretty easily.

    What a corncob pipe :/

All I smoke are MM cobs. I have 6 Country Gentlemen in rotation right now, reserved for different styles. I've got 7 more and a supply of replacement stems sitting in a drawer for backup. I don't have any money to pursue pipes at the moment; why have one middling briar when I can have 12 or 13...

    Pipe smoking attire: latest style

I watched a documentary over a year ago about Marcos and his movement. "A place called Chiapas" - available in complete form on Google video. Very interesting, regardless of what you think about their politics or philosophy. And yes, I think he has the best style of any revolutionary I've ever...

    Smokingpipes.com for Canadians?

Thank you schmitzbitz, I've seen that before but I wasn't sure if those were the exact guidelines used in our situation. It's bookmarked now. I must say it's not too fair that you can bring in 50 cigars and only up to 4 tins of pipe tobacco; that's quite a disparity, in my opinion. Not...

My first few bowls.....sublime and strange

Man, I tried to get some Gawith Hoggarth Top Black Cherry burning today after a decent amount of drying time. That isn't a cheap tobacco, the blend has a good rep as far as cherry blends go, and the company's got a good reputation, too. It's just the damn aromatics. Too much casing, or too much...

Phil, I'm sorry if it seems like I implicated you in this - I shouldn't have named names, I just didn't think it was a big deal. There was no intention to imply that SmokingPipes is why you or anyone else gets bilked by the feds at the border. I apologize to you and SmokingPipes if anyone got...

New York Snuffs Out Smoking (parks, time square Ban Passed)

What a crock. One would hope that New York would be one of the last places to fall for this kind of bull. I'm sorry - ban smoking indoors in public all you want, mass transit, any kind of enclosed space whatsoever, fine. But outdoor public spaces, THE COMMONS, should be left undisturbed. It's...

February 2011 - What are you smoking?

Gawith Hoggarth Top Black Cherry in an old cob... First aromatic I've had in awhile, wettest smoke I've ever had - including drugstore brands. What smoke I managed to taste for the intervals it was lit tasted decent, but it wasn't even remotely worth the hassle. This is after drying the tobacco...

Ted, Thanks for your response. I know that caution is key and that the onus is on the customer to order an appropriate amount of tobacco. This thread is not trying to imply that you or any other etailer is to blame for packages being stopped in Customs. So far, I have had no orders held up from...

    Molasses Flavoured Pipe Tobacco?

I didn't realize they did custom blends at C&D. Thanks for letting me know, Cortez. I'm sure if there is a fine molasses tobacco to be made, they could do it. Uncle Arthur, I'd have liked to try that twist tobacco but I'm not sure I'd live to tell the tale! I figured there is probably an...

    Straight Virginias

There is an amazing diversity in Virginia tobaccos, to be sure. It will take time to sample a variety and learn what I like. I ordered McClelland 5100 and Hamborger Veermaster today; I am going to contemplate my other Virginia selections over the next two weeks as I wait for that package to...
