For those looking for Squadron Leader

Thanks William. It intrigues me why Gawith is releasing pound increments when they could be packaging all that tobacco in 50g tins with the added profit that brings. Doesn't make much economic sense, to my mind. It also satisfies fewer customers at a time. I'd like to try Squadron Leader but I'm...

    Samuel Gawith IN STOCK! @marscigars.com

I'd try some and jar up the rest. I'd say that will be divine down the road.

    Samuel Gawith IN STOCK! @marscigars.com

It will be hard to get Full Virginia Flake, St. James Flake, Squadron Leader, 1792 or many of the other more popular Gawiths. I hope to be able to get a variety, but that will depend largely upon timing. Still some Balkan Flake and Navy Flake for latakia lovers, most VAs are gone.

    Samuel Gawith IN STOCK! @marscigars.com

I will be keeping an eye out for some on 4noggins. Last week, the proprietor of Mars said on another forum to expect Sam Gawith at your favourite etailers "next week" - his timing sounds spot on!

    the great age debate

I'm 23 years old and it is not easy being a pipe smoker in this town. I receive a lot of awkward comments and lingering stares just for being younger. It is rare enough to see a pipe smoker in these parts; people feel the need to make a statement when somebody is a little different than...

    Tonquin Flavoured Blends?

There seems to be additional claims of strength about 1792, I agree - I don't know whether or not it is attributable to tonquin though. Standardgewehr, I am extremely curious about Royal Yacht - I wish I could buy it cheaply at a local B&M, I wouldn't feel so bad if I didn't like it at all...

Disparities in shipping prices and times to Canada?

I've reconciled myself to the fact that I will never use an etailer outside of 4noggins, and potentially SmokingPipes if the mood strikes me. They carry all the blends worth smoking, in my opinion, and so I will loyally shop with them for as long as I possibly can. The rest will be a hassle, I...

    Tonquin Flavoured Blends?

I saw that on one of the snuff forums after, actually... Similar approach to papipeguy's recommendation. Sounds easy enough - I could probably handle splitting a couple beans and mixing them into a neutral tobacco. There doesn't seem to be many factory blends out there that match my specs, so...

Paladin Black Cherry Tobacco - Love it or Hate it?

My only attempt at a cherry blend was Gawith Hoggarth Top Black Cherry and I wasn't able to get it lit, even with extended drying. Too dang moist. I imagine that Paladin is either just as bad or ten times worse. I cut my teeth on little cherry cigars years ago, I do have some lingering nostalgia...

March 2011 - What are you smoking?

Penzance. I'm not feeling the love for it yet, unfortunately. I will let some dry out a little more and give it another go tomorrow evening. Don't get me wrong, it was a nice mellow English blend but I was expecting a little more in the flavour complexity department. I was expecting more than...

Illinois Governor Signs Amazon Internet Sales Tax Law

Just to be clear - as a Canadian I already pay through the nose in applicable sales tax for all my online purchases within the country. (I don't make many, partially for that reason) I hate to see you guys hit with the same. Maybe it's just inevitable...

Illinois Governor Signs Amazon Internet Sales Tax Law

They are going to strangle the internet economy, too. That won't revitalize small businesses. Excessive taxation does no favours to anyone. Our governments need to get their houses in order before they rob Peter to pay Paul once again. You can't blame it all on the internet companies - they have...

Paladin Black Cherry Tobacco - Love it or Hate it?

Schmitzbitz, I'm with you halfway - I almost feel like ordering Paladin from all this just to share my own opinion on it. I could use a guilty pleasure! With that said I probably won't go to all the hassle when I still have a lot of worthier tobaccos to buy instead. I'll be eating crow if I...

Paladin Black Cherry Tobacco - Love it or Hate it?

I'd post a review if I had tried it, Kevin... Not available in my neck of the woods. I will comment though that that chap could use a little objectivity while writing his reviews. I doubt it is as vile as he says, even if it is bad; we could have used a discussion of the smoking experience...

    Tonquin Flavoured Blends?

It sounds like I could handle Sam's Flake. Too bad it too is blended by Sam Gawith and we won't be finding it anytime soon. Has anyone had tried this blend? Is it worth smoking? There seems to be a large proportion of unhelpful negative reviews on Sam's Flake yet it still averages out to 3...

    Tonquin Flavoured Blends?

Jason, It sounds like we are in exactly the same camp - except I only theoretically like the description of tonquin flavour; that remains to be seen... However, what I lack in certainty about the flavour, I make up for in curiosity. I'm eager to try a lesser nicotine version of these blends...

    Corn Cob Pipes?

I always buy my Missouri Meerschaum corn cobs from Aristocob - he is a great seller and I've always been impressed with his service and found his prices to be more than fair. (For S&H he will only charge you the cost of one pipe, no matter how many you order - it's worth buying in bulk, which...

    Tonquin Flavoured Blends?

Kevin, Thanks for the recommendation. I knew of Bracken Flake but didn't mention it because I have seen conflicting reports about whether or not it contained tonquin. There seems to be little consensus despite the fact that many pipe smokers identify tonquin notes in BF. Unfortunately, it is...

    Tonquin Flavoured Blends?

Pappy, Royal Yacht is currently available at 4noggins. You will have your work cut out for you trying to find Samuel Gawith 1792, also known as Cob Flake. I've heard rumours that SG is on the way, but in my opinion they are just that - rumours. Judging by the tobacco reviews, you will be well...

    Tonquin Flavoured Blends?

Gentlemen, Are there any blends besides the storied 1792 or Dunhill Royal Yacht mixtures that are cased or topped with tonquin alone? I would love to experience the taste and aroma imparted by the notorious tonka bean in my smoke without having a nicotine overdose; the aforementioned blends have...
