  1. sparroa

    Are there any health..

It probably does offer a cooler smoke in some cases and it most definitely does wick the moisture... The question for me, though, does it provide any long term benefit versus unfiltered smoking? That is what I have my doubts about - extreme doubts. It is definitely going to be a preference...

    Adding sugar to tobacco?

See I something that simple was on the market, and if there is I wish they were more clear about it... It's just a good old fashioned flavour.

    Are there any health..

Agree with everything that's been said. I don't think filters pose any benefit whatsoever. The draw on filtered cigarettes, for example, is so constricted that people inhale twice as hard to get the same effect... Same with the "light" versions, people would smoke more to compensate. As for pipe...

    What is Baccy

I just found it comical. I edited my post to be more helpful but Baron saved the day...

    What is Baccy

Is this real life? lol It's just shorthand for tobacco...

Drugstore Blends biting me like a Rattlesnake

TopD, I use Country Gentleman cobs and I basically gravity filled them with the PA and H&H. I have both smoked them indoors and outdoors, but on the times when I was outside it was a calm sunny day. I always use wooden safety matches, Seafarer brand. I wanted these tobaccos to be "set it and...

    Adding sugar to tobacco?

Excellent, thanks! I haven't heard much about it but looking at the reviews now it seems promising...

    Aromatic question

I was aware that all tobaccos are cured/processed/cased to varying degrees but I guess I still hold a somewhat rigid view on what is aromatic and what is not. I agree that it can be a fine line; the codger burleys strike me as somewhat aromatic because their topping is so prominent in the pouch...

Drugstore Blends biting me like a Rattlesnake

Is there a big difference between BCA and the other two I mentioned, baron? I only had the CB White so the Royal/Gold distinction doesn't mean much to me. From reading tobacco reviews, they all sound pretty similar in the flavour department although I understand the constituent tobaccos are...

    Adding sugar to tobacco?

Thanks captainbob, it sounds good but I don't think I can get it from my supplier. Maybe some day I will make a direct order to C&D... The thing that surprises me is that there aren't any blends that market a molasses casing even though it has probably been used for many years as a background...

    Rattray's Brown Clunee

Mine feel like they are burnt off this evening... ohin, I am going to get MF/HoTW in a sizable quantity and maybe a Brown Clunee to try in the here and now. I trust that the MF/HoTW will be good enough when I get around to them that I'm not even going to bother opening a fresh tin just yet...

    The Cube Cut Method

I will. I'll give you my thoughts in a day or two! *Pause* I've had enough tobacco for today... "GUARDS!"

    The Cube Cut Method

I still haven't tried this but I've got some Sam's Flake that doesn't work too well when it's rubbed out, and I don't like all of the folding methods I've come across... Great tips!

    Rattray's Brown Clunee

Duly noted - I appreciate the clarification... Another one to purchase!

Drugstore Blends biting me like a Rattlesnake

Haha. I actually wasn't in love with Epiphany; it was alright but I waited too long to smoke it - it was almost two years old and in my opinion the latakia and perique weren't noticeable and the fruit topping had receded. It just tasted like burley with a little twist but I couldn't tell what it...

    Rattray's Brown Clunee

Thanks for the detailed description. It seems I can "picture" HoTW and MF but Brown Clunee and Old Gowrie still evade me somewhat. When I am just reading the descriptions a lot of them sound very similar since the constituent tobaccos seem to be the same... Cortez, do you agree with this...

What Are Your Recipes Worth To You??

Chris, I think you did the right thing by not giving away the recipes - if they are good enough for other people to ask about them, then the only one who should be using them commercially is you! I don't think it'd be fair for someone to get your recipes and make a living out of it, while you...

    Lee Van Cleef pipe

Thanks for the great information. I didn't know anything about African meerschaum before this thread so it is good to know. I was just curious about how the pipe will change and you answered my question 100%. I think you guys have made a really close replica and if I go for a Van Cleef it'll be...

    Growing your own...

Sounds good brother! I have been wanting to try molasses and anise tobacco for a long time... I'd say the others would be nice too but they are definitely more common on the pipe tobacco market. Great work! Keep it up. I'm sure even if it is not as mellow as you'd like it is still going to turn...

    Rattray's Brown Clunee

I have not had any Rattray's to date but I just received my first Marlin Flake. I'm going to stock up on that and Hal o' The Wynd for some longer term aging - I'm just going to roll the dice and hope I like it in a few years! Where does Brown Clunee stand in the Rattray's stable? I've read all...
