I think the idea is that a crumble cake is like a plug that hasn't been pressed as long or at such high pressure.
Don't the cakes usually have a lot of latakia? Ten Russians and Penzance, for example - they are similarly easy to break apart.
Are there VA or Va/Per crumble cakes?
In my rotation without fail or apology:
Nightcap
Penzance
GLP JackKnife Plug
PS LNF
PH Dark Strong Flake
This may seem to be several versions of two things, but, as Whitman said, "Do I contradict myself? Very well, then, I contradict myself." :)
Al, we should get together and share a bowl and some stories. I was raised Baptist and had the same proscriptions against drinking and dancing as you mention, and we had some hair-raising sermons, always followed by more food than anybody could eat. I also converted and married a Catholic girl...
My wife will come into the room and ask me what I'm looking at. The answer is always this site. It's gotten embarrassing, so now I just look at her and don't answer.
She has a FB page (I don't), and checks it multiple times a day - I need to remember to draw her attention to that!
I agree - it's good.
McClelland's Virginia Woods originated as a home-blend at this shop. It's good if you're looking for a nice aro. The room note is nice enough to calm any of the anti-tobacco crowd and the flavor's nice, too. (It's one of the very few aros I like.)
I'm not usually home and smoking early in the day, but when I am the combination of a bowl of VA flake and a pot of strong coffee is a rare and wonderful thing.
It was Virginia, the state that includes Fairfax County, my home for 20 years and the reason for the original post.
Craziness.

I'm not sure an anti-religious screed is called for here, as the O.P. simply asked if anyone was giving up pipe-smoking for Lent.
So did I, and I consequently joined the church you left. :)
But: I will agree with you on the merits of Penzance every day of the week.
