July 2011 - What are you Smoking? II

On the back porch, waiting for the monsoon. Middleton's Cherry Blend in the freehand cob. :puffy:

    Sutliff Private Stock Pipe Tobacco

Blend No. 5 is quite a good English blend. They tried to copy Dunhill's My Mixture 965 and failed miserably but ended up creating a very nice mixture in it's own right. It's a tasty Cavendish with a whopping portion of Latakia added in. Rich and cool smoking. I like it.

After a wonderful fried chicken dinner, it's 7 Seas Royal for dessert.

July 2011 - What are you Smoking? II

After a night of Tenaya Creek Brewery brews (from the brewery taps), it's the last of some Iwan Ries Dr. Bradley's Mixture in a no name saddle-bit billiard. And then to bed.

July 2011 - What are you Smoking? II

On the desert back porch, it is early morning. Cooler than yesterday and the monsoon is heading back my direction over the next few days. Naturally, it's EMP in the Savinelli and Dark Roast Yuban in the cup. My band has a gig tonight, so I need to get the "tour" van ready for gear load-in...

    Relax Tobaccos

Dunhill Nightcap. The new Orlik is quite great but the old Murray's version really put me in the zone.

It's dark and it's hot out on the desert back porch. Balkan Sasieni in the Savinelli. Ice water in the big cup. Chill Out by The KLF in the ear buds. :puffy:

What is a good English Blend to start out with?

Seeing as you are an aromatic smoker, I agree Frog Morton is a good introduction to latakia blends. Also give Early Morning Pipe a try because it's just so damn good!

Sunday night in the desert and it's BR Whiskey in the R&L pinecone billiard. Tough break for USA Women's Soccer Team. :|

The cicadas are buzzing on the back porch and it's Balkan Sasieni in a Savinelli. Happy Friday! :puffy:

    Your Favorite Tobacco...Today

In spite of many "superior" tobaccos in my larder, I am really enjoying Middleton's Cherry Blend in my freehand cob - so much so that I went out and picked up another box of it! This blend and this cob seem made for each other. It's a nice, well behaved cherry blend that doesn't even seem like...

July 2011 - What are you Smoking?

Tinderbox Special Blend, again. I customized it with a bit of Crooner (burley and deertongue). I guess the original Special Blend from Ed's in Santa Monica has deertongue in it. So, I'll just call this Special Crooner. :puffy:

July 2011 - What are you Smoking?

Borkum Riff Whiskey in a Grabow. It's a fresh pouch I picked up today at the Tribal Smokeshop. Something has changed sinced I last BBQ'd my tongue on this. I believe a new blender is handling BR and it's quite nice! Not as heavily cased as it was, new package design and I really had to pull...

July 2011 - What are you Smoking?

The Best Drugstore Tobacco thread inspired me to dig out the Middleton's Cherry Blend. In the big freehand cob. It's like a late 1940's movie on the back porch tonight. :puffy:
