***What Are You Smoking, December 2024?***

Sutliff's Eastfarthing. July 2022 blend. I moved this tin to the front of the line for obvious reasons. This was my first light for this blend, and I'm looking to see if I need to fill the cellar. I think this scratches my Old Toby itch, but I like Old Toby better. I have yet to try a Boswell...

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

July 2022 - Sutliff's Eastfarthing. This is my first light with this blend. I'm looking to see if I need to stock the cellar. I think I like TCS better, and I have yet to try Northwoods. Perfectly good smoke, though. 3.5/4.

A Look at STG Internal Documents Regarding the Mac Baren / Sutliff Buyout

Tobacco is a growing industry worth $900 billion. I was astounded that the entire portfolio went for only $77,000,000. I haven't looked at books or numbers, so you may very well be correct. After all, it sold for a number, so that's at least one good measure of the company's value. However...

A Look at STG Internal Documents Regarding the Mac Baren / Sutliff Buyout

I have a lot of respect for STUFFandTHINGS. I understand it. I don't like it. My read is this--one of these things is true: 1) STG bought Mac Baren and Sutliff for a song. 2) After adjusting for inflation, the pipe tobacco market has cratered so hard since 2011 that Mac Baren and Sutliff's...

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

I haven't tried any Peretti yet. I'm slowly making a list for an upcoming trip to Beantown.

Show Us Your Most Prized Pipe!

Well, I'll cheat. <-- I want this one. My Peterson 314 was my first pipe, and it now proudly turns black cavendish into ash. And if my house gets hit by an asteroid, I have this Savinelli 673 Luisa Fiammata stashed at my dad's house. I just love this pipe. I bought my brother a matching one...

How Much of Your Favorite Blend is Cellared?

I probably have 4 decades worth of tobacco stored. I have 1 or 2 pounds of a few blends that I care a lot about, such as Ten to Midnight, WhiteKnight, and Bengal Slices. I've also cellared a lot of variety that I'm excited to get to, eventually. I have about 3/4 of a pound of BCA cellared. I...

How Much of Your Favorite Blend is Cellared?

@Chasing Embers Does compressing and cellaring your blends as plugs affect the flavor or character of the tobacco?

    How Cold Is Too Cold?

I have a patio heater that helps tremendously, but it's not magic. It won't make up for freezing temperatures, and it's useless in the wind.

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

Nice! I have a tin of this in my pipe drawer. Interested to see what you think of it.

    Intolerance to Most Tobaccos

The only real tongue bite I got was from Mac B's Virginia #1. I swear each bowl was like smoking hornet stingers. I dropped the jar and it broke. I thought it poetic that my VA #1 was mixed with actual glass shards. I tossed it and did not re-up. I used to hurt my mouth with steam. I finally...

What was your first blend and is it part of your current rotation?

1-Q was my first tobacco. BCA was my second. I still have some 1-Q jarred in my cellar, but BCA is in my permanent rotation.

    Thoughts On STG

I imagine STG will look at their entire portfolio.

    Thoughts On STG

Thanks!!! Source Images This was a lot easier when Cellar Labels (community.cellarlabels.com) was active. The site has been "down for maintenance" for about a year now. Hope doesn't spring eternal for a revival. One user at Badger and Blade dumped his stash here, and it's better than nothing...
