What do you know about old Castello's?

I got the stems back yesterday. Tinsky really opened them up and improved them. The one in back was the biggest, probably a G size, and I traded it to a buddy for an Ashton Old Church Bent Billiard w/ a brindle Stem. I'll post a pic of that tomorrow. The curved one in front is a Castello 31...

Pipe Ponderings - Don't Waste Your Life

Wallbright, I appreciate your thoughts. Whether or not you were referring to Pipe Forum participation or not, I think we can all agree, if we're honest, that we've wasted some time in our lives--on the computer and on other stuff. Despite the current cultural "wisdom" on the topic, I think...

What's happening to my Taste for Tobacco?

Alright, some of you fellers who've been around the block a few times: Have you ever been going along, minding your own business and smoking your favorite blends, when all at once, you can't seem to get that "something special" out of them. Like for me, I like a bit of sweetness (usually...

    Size does matter.

I am a clencher 75% of the time. Therefore, I have naturally added more small bowled pipes to the collection as of late. The exceptions are bigger pipes with a nice bend to them, which allow me to drive, type, change diapers, etc., with no problems whatsoever.

    A Word About PM's

Answers to your PM Questions 1. Depends on which one. 2. Man do I wish I was going to be there. 3. Probably, but we all struggle with that. Hey Kevin, hope you're doing well. Have you had a chance to smoke either of those old Comoy's yet? I see that you've been digging on the Trout...

What do you know about old Castello's?

Fellas, as White Men Can't Jump once taught me, "The sun even shines on a dog's ass, some days." I was just able to pick up these 3 old Castello Sea Rocks for a very reasonable price (Less than the cost of 1 new Sea Rock). They date from the 60's and have Patent numbers and no K designations...

First impressions of several Hearth & Home blends

Has anyone tried Sweet and Savory yet? I just ordered some tins and I CAN'T WAIT! I'm a long-time fan of Anniversary Kake and Trout Stream though.

What Do You Like to Drink During a Smoke? Alcoholic or Non?

    1. A good Scotch. I like The Dalmore. 12 is good. 15 is divine. 2. Benedictine and Brandy liquer. I just butchered that spelling. 3. Coca Cola Classic. Tastes great on the back of the tongue while enjoying a good English. Just try it!

    zippo lighter question

I love my zippo pipe lighter. Best one I've had. I only use the zippo fuel because I think it leaves less of a fuel taste when I'm lighting my pipe. I could be believing the hype, but I really thought I noticed a difference.

    Mystery Pipes: JR ?

So here's an update. I've talked to an old and respected dude in the industry and he's confounded as well. His only suggestion was for "Joe Roth" who apparently used to own a "Joe's Pipe Shop" somewhere (he doesn't know where). Coincidently, there is a "Joe Roth" selling his 500 pipe...

    Mystery Pipes: JR ?

Hey guys, Just got 3 pipes, all old and enjoyed and in need of a good cleaning. All look to be well-constructed too- with good drilling and open draws. They are all marked "J R Hand Made" On one side and "Straight Grain" On the other side. Anybody ever seen these before?

Can't smoke until Friday, dang it!!!

I went through this a year ago. They say nicotine will show up within 2-3 weeks after smoking. I waited a month to be safe. My buddy smoked one clove cigarette a week before his test and it nailed him, but he inhales.

    Tobacco Storage

Whoa, Bubba, Did you steal my grandma's green beans?

    Tobacco Storage

I just found 8-8oz Ball jars for $.25 a piece at Target. They were part of a dozen or so that had been removed from their packages and didn't have a price. A manager cut me a deal, and I couldn't be more pleased. They are the perfect size for a 2oz or 50gr package of tobacco.

What Aromatics are good for a new pipe smoker?

If Pipes and Cigars dot com delivers to England, then you should try yourself some Trout Stream some time. It actually tastes like it smells, which is delicious!
