    Caught the addiction

I suppose it is an affliction, of sorts. But, as afflictions go, it isn't so bad. :) Like yourself I'm in the early stages of terminal TADS, trying not to let it progress into PADS, as well. The only treatment tends to be expensive. :puffpipe: The world of tobacco is fascinating and much larger...

Can Someone in USA Explain What the Heck These Are:

In deed, no one would want a clear spit container. Ugh. Dang, you must have iron stomach and guts to not spit. The thought is sickening. Double ugh. I saw some pretty messy baccy chewers when I was a kid but they were all old farmers who lived outside in the fields.

Can Someone in USA Explain What the Heck These Are:

My grand father used a one quart tomato juice can for "dippin' snuff". He put a big spoon full of "dippin'" snuff in his mouth, under the bottom lip, held it there, and spit into the can. I assume he flushed it down the toilet. He used the same can every day until my grand mother made him...

    Edwards pipe?

Ah Ha, the plot thickens. There are Two Edwards. So far, my money is on Tampa, only because there was a pic of a funky shaped pipe, parts smooth and parts appeared sand blasted.

MM Corn Cob Query - How long do they last?

I always admired that Mark Twain hired someone to break in his cobs. Apparently he was a fierce smoker who went through a lot of cobs when working.

    Edwards pipe?

Look at this http://www.pipephil.eu/logos/en/logo-e1.html scroll down Your description sounds similar to the one pictured on the page, A Tampa pipe maker.

    Where to get Boswell tobacco

I will be interested to hear about your experience with customs, tax, etc. I live in Vancouver and have yet attempted to order baccy from the States.

    Does Chemical Burn Exist?

I have a similar issue with Virginias. Not enough to get in the way, but enough to make me to try to stick to the P-lip, when smoking Virginia based flakes. Hmmm, I will make a guess on the brand. Samuel Gawith. I love their stuff but I've had minor tongue bite problems with them, as well as...

    Suggestions please!

as lordofthepiperings suggested, Billy Budd is popular with a couple of ex and sometimes cigar smokers I know. Planning to try it myself as I love the smell of decent cigars.

    Pipe hanging ?

I was told that many European racks are designed to hang them stem down and that the bowl down approach is largely a North American thing. I'm not sure it makes a real difference, assuming you are taking care of them properly. Mine are hidden in a drawer because my youngest mutt is rather...

    Extreme Tongue Bite/Burn/General Pain

    Pipe Show Haul

Yowsa, that be a Great haul. Like many I'm particularly attracted to the bulldog nose warmer, the urchin, and the Zulu. The urchin and the mermaid are real conversation starters. Wonderful haul

Confidence Can Make You do Dumb Things

What a noble crowd we are. "Save the pipe babes! To hell with the other stuff. Save the pipe babes!!"

Why did you first pick up a pipe?

My reason for taking up the pipe was to get my nic fix without inhaling the stuff but the attraction was more complex. I grew up with my grand parents, I was practically my grandfather's dog. :)He was an ex coal miner and smoked Camels until he died at 85 but his brothers, old farmer friends...

An Observation From an Ex Cig Smoker

I too traded the pipe for the cigs this last summer. I have missed them, not at all. I only wish I had taken up the pipe much sooner. My TADs doesn't keep up with my smoking. I go through about four ounces a month. That's to say I smoke a little more than four tins per month. That costs more...

    Filters and Corn Cobs

I used the filtre when I got my first MM. Tossed it after four or five bowls, never had any problems. I'm very interested in those "forever stems" as I don't care for the plastic.
