New Pipe Has Hairline Cracks, What Do I Do?

That's a pretty nice pipe - too nice to just write it off. Mail it back and insist on a replacement. If the dealer won't play nice, let them know that their name will be gladly shared with LOTS of other pipe enthusiasts across the country. Or, contact Brebbia and see what they can do for you...

    Tobacco Suggestions

If you want to try a mild English, try Sutliff's Berkshire. Also, contact C & D and ask their advice. Good people there and will reply with some good ones to start with. C & D blends are made with good quality tobaccos. They are usually freshly blended, so you might want to give a bit of time...

    Has Peterson Quality Really Declined?

I agree that Peterson is known to be one of the more accommodating manufacturers out there. Contact them and send it back. You're likely to get one that is better than average, from what I understand. Good posts on this on the International Peterson Pipe Club site. BTW - +1 on the Grabows. I...

Central Florida Pipe & Cigar Group

Just sent this to an interested person about an excellent place to consider for a meeting... Bull & Bush is near Orlando Executive Airport - On Robinson - in the Milk District. Neat little old English pub. Very small with only about a dozen total tables in the place, a long bar to sit at and...

Central Florida Pipe & Cigar Group

Just an update - there have been about 6 or 7 replies from people who are interested in moving forward in getting this together. That's a respectable start for only a few days of discussion. The possibility of getting a group together in the Central FL area is exciting! Sure would be good to...

    Has Peterson Quality Really Declined?

I prefer the look of the "Woodchipper" finish over the swirlled corkscrew rustication. All of my rusticated Petes are like that, including a superb smoking Deluxe. Must admit that the only Petes I have kept, except for a new 05 system, are all older estates. My smooth 307 is in excellent...

Breaking News: Savinelli USA Closes, Laudisi Dist. Takes Over

Kevin - Thanks for the info - will probably work in the consumer's favor. I also do a lot of business with smokingpipes.com - very good customer service. Should be good news on the Savinelli distribution. +1 on the Tundra models - on my very short PAD list. bb

    Cigar advice

If you like Fuentes, try the 858 maduro, CAO's La Traviata maduro and La Gloria Cubano serie N maduro. Excellent sticks and all are under $5.00. Another that is superb is Liga's Undercrown maduro. That one is around $7.50 for the robusto size. One of my favorites is Patel's Edge maduro. All...

    Florida Smokers Roll Call

I'm moving forward with getting a pipe & cigar club together in the Central Florida / Orlando area. After talking with members of pipe & cigar clubs elsewhere, came away with some good ideas. Many cubs have raffles for tobacco tins, fine pipes and good cigars. I've run across a few pubs that...

Kind of bummed about my pipe

by the way, a friend turned me onto a great way to clean & sanitize... use 151 rum. Sweetens the pipe and sanitizes weally well. If the pipe is super nasty, pour a little in the bowl and light it. Whooba!!! bb

Kind of bummed about my pipe

If the finish can come off pretty easily with the clean & cure, I'd go ahead and take all of it off. Polish well with a soft dremel polish disc and a bar of carnauba wax. Be careful when polishing and don't touch the briar with any metal part of the tool. Comes out gorgeous. bb

Central Florida Pipe & Cigar Group

Would there be any interest here in starting a Pipe & Cigar Enthusiasts group in the Central Florida / Orlando area? Have another person interested - looking for others to enjoy these activities with. Get together, have a few bowls or cigars and a few good beers, scotches or whatever. I've...

    New Peterson Question

I have several Petes and ALL have a superb fit and finish. Now, there are known issues, such as the finish on smooth Kinsales. Good bets in Petersons are the system Standard line of pipes. the military mounts ensure that the stem fit is correct. I have rarely seen bands that do not fit...

    Florida Smokers Roll Call

Orlando here - also have place in Sarasota, so I'd be interested in a pipe club there. I'm very interested in starting a pipe club in the Central Florida area. Any ideas or suggestions welcome. Orlando is a tough area because nobody here really calls it home. No B&M's dedicated to pipes, but...
