Snow, Snow and More Snow...Please Make It Stop

Well, the snow finally stopped here sometime over night with a storm total of 15 inches. One of our smaller communities ended up with nearly 30 inches of snow. I did get to spend the day at work getting the school ready for the kids to arrive for one last day before Christmas vacation; however...

Clay pipes and bitter cold weather

I am thinking I need to get a clay pipe after the Christmas season. I at least am intrigued by the theory of a clay pipe.

Help Me Find A New Christmas Aromatic

+1 for Corn Cob Pipe and a Button nose. I have a tin waiting to be smoked on Christmas morning as presents are being opened. Well actually, a tin minus a couple of bowls as I had to make sure I had the packing down so that I would not ruin a perfectly good morning with the family (he said in jest).

How do I fight the FDA?

Warren that is a quote that I may very well use in the future.

Snow, Snow and More Snow...Please Make It Stop

By the way, I love the theory of snow. I love how quiet it make the town. I love the way it makes the Christmas lights look; however, I do not like shoveling it. I do not mind driving in it, but those who live in the area yet who did not grow up here do make me nervous because they seem think...

Snow, Snow and More Snow...Please Make It Stop

You got it right. I live in Redmond which is about 15 miles to the east from Sisters (by the way, Sisters is a neat little town where the entire downtown is done up in a old west style.) The skiing will be amazing as the local resorts now have about 20 inches of very dry powder on top of a 60"...

Snow, Snow and More Snow...Please Make It Stop

Well, here in Central Oregon we are in the midst of a major winter storm (I am sure it will get the rest of the United States in due time) today that has so far dropped about sixteen inches of snow. While it has lead to a great afternoon and evening of pipe smoking I am ready for the sky to give...

Price of Pipes/Lady of the House

For the longest time I was spending $100 a month of Grizzly Moist Snuff, which I gave up doing in June, so as long as I spend less than $100 a month on tobacco and/or accessories my wife considers it a savings (of both my oral health and money).

So-my 'el desperado'noobie pipe rotation (ahem)....

Welcome to our wonderful nook of the web. You have a very fine starter set there. By the way, what kind of tobacco do you enjoy?

    School's Band Concert

I have one daughter who has her first concert (6th grade saxophone) tomorrow and two kids who have their concerts on Wednesday (Frosh on trumpet and Jr. on french horn). It is amazing to see how proficient they become after just a handful of years playing. Also, our daughter, the french horn...

    No More Burning Tires

I get that one would like to cut down on the amount of pipe maintenance; however, I do have to say that the chapstick trick has done wonders for the few pipes I own that have a rubber stem. Also, the internet has ruined me because the above posts that mention rubbing down a stem and rubber takes...

I Mean No Disrespect To Shrinks!

I get the point of what you many of you are saying here; however, for me it was a psychiatrist who saved my life. Fortunately, I went to one who required a lot of hard work and did not just offer relief in the form of a pill.

    Too hot to handle

Here is they way I figure it, I would rather smoke a corncob to learn on and possible burn out a sub $10 pipe than have a risk of ruining a much more expensive briar pipe; therefore, stick with a cob and follow the above mention bits of advice about drying your tobacco, try different styles and...

Can pipe tobacco ever be TOO dry? (Preference aside)

I have found that I worried to much about my tobacco being too dry, then one day I found a forgotten jar that felt way to dry and it smoked like a dream. The moral of the story for me was to smoke what I had in the condition that it was in which led to some great discoveries.

To Stem or not to Stem

My vote would be to enjoy it as is, so far that makes a vote of 3 vs. 0 to keep it as is and enjoy away.

    Is this pipe worth it?

It has been my experience that you can always get a pawnshop to come down at least 25% so I would start by offering $45 (that would give you room to move up). Another strategy that I employ with pawnshops is to wait a few weeks to see if they sell. Pawnshops only make money when they sell an...

Can't help with identification; however, it is a very beautiful pipe. Please update and let us know how she smokes.
