Show us the Pipe that Started Your Smoking Adventure!

My first pipe was a brylon. I smoked some lane 1-Q. It was not a horrible experience, but the pipe did get incredibly hot. Over the next couple of months I kept trying to build up a cake, which I finally realized may not be possible when your pipe is made of smooth and slick nylon. I know I...

    Tongue Fatigue

Likely just tongue fatigue. I have had this happen to me, especially if I have a later afternoon/evening strong tobacco and then later have something quite a bit lighter. I should add that this typically is on a day that I have had 2-3 more pipefuls more than I typically enjoy. One more...

    MM Merrick Poker

According to MM the bowl has the same dimensions as the Riverboat Gambler, which I find has a definite place in my rotation. I have not tried a country Gentleman for flakes as I thought the bowl might be a bit on the large size. Typically, how long does it take you to smoke through a flake in...

    Birthday Pipes

Happy birthday. I love the look of the Sav. That raw bowl is just begging to have some baccy in it.

    MM Merrick Poker

Trying to decide if I want to pull the trigger on a MM Merrick Poker. Does anyone have any experience with this particular pipe? Thoughts? If it matters, I would be smoking Va. flakes and Vapers.

Up next is SWRA in my other Riverboat Gambler while trying to decide if I should get a Merrick Poker.

OSG in a Riverboat Gambler MM. I decided to try fold and stuff. It worked out well, probably because I dried the flake much more than normal.

    Too Hot to Smoke?

On of the advantages of living in the mountains of the west. It may get warm or hot in the day time, but as soon as the sun touches the mountains the temps does drop quickly.

***What Are You Smoking, July 2022?***

Starting the evening off with a bowl of Bayou Morning in a Stanwell Brushed Featherweight billiard. This will be the last temperate evening for the next week.

    Too Hot to Smoke?

When it is overly hot it probably cuts down my pipe smoking around 25%. I am blessed to live on the high desert of Oregon, so typically, even on hot days, it cools off to a large extent after about 7pm and does not get blazing hot until after 10am. This allows me to enjoy a morning smoke and a...
