Normally I would pass on a pipe that someone has hacked up but I actually liked what they were going for with the stem. An inch or more had been cut off the stem and was crudely reshaped. The profile of this stubby bulldog grabbed my attention so I grabbed it from ebay. I put a quick cleanup on...
Nice work ss. I have few KW Drinkless stinger stamps with and without a registration number. I imagine the reg number stamped stingers would be the oldest of the Drinkless.
If it's shiny than it's restored right?
Is this your pipe or are just showing us a pic you found?
Believe it or not I've seen Steve Laug from Reborn Pipes recondition this kind of damage, by adding half a bowl from a donor pipe.
Nice work Orley. It looks as good as new.
I've never seen a tennon like that. My guess: to strengthen the tennon?
WDC most certainly patented that design if they invented it. Finding a patent date could ballpark the age.
While dusting off a pipe rack last weekend I snapped a pic of some of my dogs. Btw, if your rotation has enough time to collect dust, then you officially have P.A.D.
This LHS Certified Purex churchwarden belongs to my friend Joe M. from DGCF. I asked him to send me pictures to post on the forum, because an example this rare deserves to be seen.
@ Ed
I've never seen any LHS displays, and believe me I've been looking for a while.
I think this picture could be a glimpse of the Stern factory lobby. Notice the absence of tobacco and the multiple wall displays in the shadows of the background?

While searching eBay I ran across some terrific pictures of LHS counter top and wall displays. These were taken from stereoscopic picture slides from eBay seller 3d-drt-3d.
