    The Euphoric Smoking Experience

Two nights ago, in slightly chilly weather but not enough for a coat, I sat underneath a tree in our back yard smoking a pipe and drinking Scotch on the rocks. The pipe was my gigantic Mr. Brog Lumberjack; the tobacco was mere (but delicious) The Best of the Rest; and the Scotch was a...

Pear-Wood or Corn Cob for Beginner?

Hmmm... Got my MM cob General, and so far not so good. Do these typically need a break-in? It tastes like I'm burning off something harsh from the bowl. Same deal whether with or without the filter. Please advise if I need to know something. Thanks, and best to all. My first cob.

    Best of the Rest English

I am also a new Best of the Rest fan. I purchased both the aromatic and English and found each to be amazingly uniform - like it appears to be all the same blend. I expected so much worse, but what I got were quality tobaccos. I ordered a bunch more because of the price point and quality. I...

Pear-Wood or Corn Cob for Beginner?

I am kinda in the same boat as I will be receiving my first Missouri Meerschaum for Christmas! I am getting the General and am very excited about it. As it turns out, I will also be getting a pear-wood pipe as well. I have lots of briars, but one of my favorite pipes is a giant pear-wood by Mr...

    Best Of The Rest

At that price point, and with the quality of the tobacco, I just bought another load of the stuff. Who knows if a deal like this will exist in the future. Anyway, I am impressed with both the aromatic and the English. Best to all.

    Best Of The Rest

Well, I ordered and received my first purchases of Best of the Rest from Pipes and Cigars (both aromatic and English), so I thought I'd give my take. The price point was spectacular (and on sale), so I had to give them a try. I have yet to smoke the English, but the aromatic is really, really...

    Better Days Ahead...

I began smoking a pipe in college and hearing "tamp it down" not knowing what that meant. So I hit my pipe on the other hand a few times! Call me Mr. Tongue Bite. I'm a new member but a long time pipe smoker. Wonderful charring light. Use tamper to tamp it down. Smoke it slowly and enjoy.

    Old Ironsides New Tin

I will. Thank you. I was surprised at the semi-sweet billows of smoke this fresh tin supplied. Smoked in a big Don Carlos. I will look up your recommendation!

    Old Ironsides New Tin

Wow, this stuff is just so good. It had been a while since I opened a fresh tin, and the aroma was delightful. Surprising VA notes forward. The smoke was luscious, smooth, cool. I feel so fortunate to have three more unopened. Happy Sunday afternoon!

    Three Course Pipe Meal

The only time I had trouble coming back to a bowl was with Mac Baren HH Old Dark Fired - tasted like dirt. I do think the blends make a difference. Old Ironsides, for example, is the steak for me. Windjammer, the delicious side dish. And of course the vanilla (which I smoke in a huge Brog...

    Three Course Pipe Meal

This must be strange, but I do it a lot now: I smoke three pipes during a sitting, not finishing any one bowl. Then, the next day, I take up where I left off on each bowl. My current three-course meal is: 1. Old Ironsides 2. Windjammer 3. Smoker's Pride Vanilla (for desert). Anyone else do...

    A Pipe & My Daughter's First Hike!

Wow do I love this forum. This thread just about brings me to tears. So beautiful. Ours is 11 now. I may have found a blend that my wife and kid actually like. I'm stuck in the garage for a while. Best to all, and thanks for the thread.

Where and What Have You Been Smoking?

Yesterday, in the cold garage smoking Mac Baren HH Old Dark Fired Ready Rubbed in a huge Mr. Brog Lumberjack while reading a good book. I'm in Texas with all the pipes-freezing and such.
