Any Tips for Smaller Flakes?
Try for yourself the different methods here described. Interestingly if you go to McClelland site they have a page on how to prepare flakes and they reccomend rubbing them out. I also find rubbing in relatively big chunks and drying is the best option for me as the flavor is similar to fold...- 64alex

[Sounds as if you’ve opened both tins. I would take a piece of tin foil or wax paper and set it between the lid and tin. It does a nice job of keeping tins fresh.
