I have tried the Stoved Virginia, and I do like it. It's very very mild and sweet, would make a great transition from aeros. Personally it's a little one-note for me. I use it in my personal blend that I call "Dreadnought", which is 1/2 C&D Exclusive and 1/2 Stoved VA. It's my night time...- rmcnabb

Wow, you nailed it. I adore that aesthetic - nobody does perfect stems and beautiful metal ferrule rings like the Danes. I'm a Neerup/Jeppesen addict for this reason. I guess I have to add West Virginia into that mix! -
Morta Pipes Experiences?
I've worked so much oak in so many different forms and capacities from firewood to fine home furnishings, that I'm mortally afraid of oak splinters. I can't look at some of the photos I've seen of morta pipes without reaching for a pair of leather gloves. -

I'm working in a new Peterson now - the draft hole is pretty dang high in the chamber, and it smokes like a champ. (It's also very high in the stem hole - you can forget passing a pipe cleaner without disassembly.) Dry and consistent. And that's with VA flakes - to me the most problematic...- rmcnabb

Smoking to the Bottom of the Bowl.
I just pack based on draw. It should be slightly harder to draw on the packed bowl than an empty one. If you’re able to mash the tobacco into a shape and it holds that shape, to me that’s too wet.
