My Spouse Threw Away My Meer

Up until I read this post it was my intention to remain silent. Throwing out a prized possession while you were away is a sign of disrespect. Saying that it reminded her of someone in her past sounds like a ridiculous excuse. It sounds like payback and not an action that was motivated by...

    Cheap Pipes

When I started to build a rotation of pipes I didn't have a lot of money to spend so I went after bargains on ebay. Most of my pipes cost under $35usd. A 100+yo German tobacconist closed and I was lucky to find the guy who bought all of their NOS. Postage to Oz was only $12usd from Germany...

    Your Go-To Virginia

D&R Windsail is also rather good as a straight Virginia and makes an excellent mixer. It comes rather dry which I like because I hate paying for extra moisture. [Can't believe that some at tobacco-reviews see that as a negative - they don't know how to rehydrate?]

    Your Go-To Virginia

Not that I've tried many straight Va's but Newminster #400 and Sutliff Virginia Slices are nice enough when I'm in the mood but Orlik Golden Sliced is my hands down favourite [come on, we all know that OGS does not contain Perique puffy ]. Shame that Orlik does not sell bulk or it would be a...

    Cigarettes Affecting Pipe Taste

Yes! "compulsive crack addict like habit" due to the added chemicals is exactly how it felt, especially the last several years of my 35 year addiction. Re; stale cigarette odour. Every morning I awoke I would smell the stale cigarette smoke. Same with my car. Now in the mornings I smell...

    Uneven Tenon

Beeswax works well for a loose stem but judging by Andrews description he needs to build up a gap with something more substantial.

    Uneven Tenon

Nail polish on the tenon has worked well for me. One needs to rough up the surface a little with sandpaper before applying the nail polish. Then let it dry hard before inserting it back into the mortise.

    Cigarettes Affecting Pipe Taste

My duodenal ulcers eventually called time out on my drinking. The most annoying thing was after years of binge drinking I'd finally learnt to drink in moderation. Oh well, at least I can enjoy a beer or two with a meal and I have my weed puffy No I don't see "smoking as much pipe as I want" as...

    Cigarettes Affecting Pipe Taste

It's never too late! Ever since I started smoking I've used it to handle stress and depression. So it would not matter how long I had abstained during a quit attempt, whether it was six days or six months, whenever I was stressed or the black cloud descended, I'd grab a smoke because at that...

    Cigarettes Affecting Pipe Taste

Tailor-made cigarettes have 300-600 added chemicals. Yuck. Best thing I've ever done regarding my smoking was to ditch the lung busters for the pipe. Never thought I'd ever kick the addiction. [Not had a ciggie in over 12 years and have zero desire to have one] Now I only smoke mild blends...

    Unknown pipe

I could not see the word ENGLISH until you pointed it out. Yes, that's the word but I'm unable to see what the next word is apart from the last or 2nd last letter which looks like a 'C' or maybe an 'O'.

What are Some Famous American Pipe Manufacturers?

I've got over 30 briars in my rotation. All of them are good smokers [which is why they made it into regular rotation] Most were won on ebay at very reasonable price [some were absolute bargains] There's also six Missouri Meerschaum cobs that are in daily rotation that smoke every bit as good as...

What is the Difference between Aged Tobacco and New Tobacco?

Ageing changes tobacco, Virginias especially but whether that change is for the better or not often boils down to personal taste. For example; Aj's Vaper fresh, I did not like. It was jarred and put in the back of my cupboard and forgotten. My intention was to use it as a mixer when my...

Flavored Tobaccos for a New Smoker?

Are you trying to kill the poor guy? Seriously, you're a cruel man.

Flavored Tobaccos for a New Smoker?

As others have already suggested, it would help if you gave us an idea of what you already like. The main consideration when I'm looking to purchase a blend that's new to me is the nicotine levels. Since switching from a cigarette addiction over 12 years ago, I'm careful to choose blends with...

    Classic Mac Baren "Omnibus" Review

Plumcake has one of my favourite tin notes. Simply delicious. At 15yo I somehow convinced my ultra-religious parents to allow me to smoke a pipe. Back then Plumcake was my favourite smoke. One of my lifes biggest regrets is switching to cigarettes for their convenience. When I switched back...

Sutliff Tobacco Co. Dulce de Leche D58

Have not tried Dulce de Leche but sounds like an aro that I'd like. Thanks for the recommendation. puffy I'm not a fan of moist goopy aromatics but there is one exception; Vanilla Custard. It's got a really nice flavour but it's so sticky, I mix it at least 50/50 with a straight Virginia or...

    Mixing Blends

There's not a lot of 'crossover' blends [that I'm aware of at least] and wonder if it's something that a lot of pipe smokers haven't tried. Maybe adding a bit of Latakia to an aromatic may not be something that sounds appealing to many? Idk. Have you tried Count Pulaski? It's a very tasty example.

    Mixing Blends

One of my favourite home-made blends is mixing an English with an aromatic. My first foray into buying unknown blends over the internet was a couple of pounds of Mark Twain. A pleasant enough aro but too moist and sticky for my tastes. Another was London Squire, an English blend that was dry...

    Please Help Identify a Flavor

You might want to also try experimenting by mixing some Black Cavendish with Burley codger blends like Carter Hall. Have you tried Butternut Burley? [Get the 4noggins version - much cheaper than the Scottys BB] One of my favourite aromatics.
