Picked up a few more pipes from my dad that he forgot he had. I know the history on two of them, local tobacconist and carver he regularly shopped from in the 60s-80s.

However, I’m just curious if anyone knows the make of the attached pipe. All I can read on the stamping is “Made in England” and “311” above the Made in England it’s unreadable as far as the maker. All I know is it should of been around from the 60s-70s.

I would just like to know it’s origins, even if just a basket pipe. My dad when he was still a smoker smoked all of his pipes even at the steel mill he worked at, so all the ones he’s given me have been in a variety of conditions but I cherish them all the same.

If there's anything else stamped, even if you think it's too worn to be read, take the best picture you can, and post it. There's not enough info, except I can tell you this, the stem is a replacement, not original to the pipe.
I’ll see if I can get some good lighting on it. Yeah I could tell that right away, my dad was always biting his stems while smoking his Tinderbox Blend 1 and Blend 33 before he gave it up. ? I have another one he salvaged while working in the coke plant at the steel mill that fell in to heated coals, it lost its bowl shape but he tells me he was able to shovel it out and continue smoking it that day

I was going to say GBD from the stem, and then I realized that the stem isn't original to the pipe. No idea but it's cool to have a pipe with a story like that.

I agree about the stem replacement. From the closeup I think I see a capital "N" as the second letter of the name? And the "512" is probably a shape number, which should be a good clue to the maker. puffy

The first word may be 'English', so it might be 'English Rustic' a Comoy's second from the 50s to 70s:
British Pipe Brands & Makers E - H - Pipedia

Check if its a Comoys shape by that number, 311 or 511. If not, full list of British makers here:

Kinda looks like this Charatan 311:

I could not see the word ENGLISH until you pointed it out.
Yes, that's the word but I'm unable to see what the next word is apart from the last or 2nd last letter which looks like a 'C' or maybe an 'O'.
