    Day 2... lessons learned

Estate pipes will enable you to get a good selection of pipe styles at a very low cost if you buy auction lots. This is what I did starting out. The only caveat is that you will need to clean and sometimes restore some of the pipes that you get, which can be a hobby in itself. You might also...

What Are You Drinking? February 2023

Cracked open a really old bottle of The Balvenie Doublewood. Unfortunately it is so old that the cork disintegrated upon opening. Fortunately I had a spare cork that fits perfectly, so all is well, aside from some bits of old cork in my dram. One of my favorite single malts.

Thanks. I like buying auction lots because they open up the possibility of scoring really good deals. This pipe alone is worth half of the entire amount I spent on the ten pipe lot, which includes some other really nice ones.

Today's estate lot pipe is a Karl Erik freehand, hand cut in Denmark. This is my first and only pipe of this style and it's a really good smoker. Having large hands, the beefy size of it actually feels very comfortable. Not ideal for clenching, but great for a nice, long relaxing smoke. Packed...

    Cutty Madness. Championship Match.

An impossible choice, but I'm going to go with number one. These were very worthy pipes for the final round.

Today's estate pipe is a 1934 WDC Royal Demuth, with Sterling band. Packed with Amphora Full Aroma. This is a pretty neat looking little pipe, and a good smoker as well.

Thanks! I love bulldogs and the carving and rustication on this one is pretty neat.

What Are You Drinking? February 2023

We finally cracked open the crowler that I picked up at the local pub back in December of Pelican Brewing's Three on the Tree, a barrel aged Imperial Red Ale. Pelican Brewing is an Oregon coast brewery and one of my favorites. Three on the Tree is aged in barrels that first contained rich...

    Day 2... lessons learned

Sounds like a great smoking session. For whatever reason I always seem to be doing something when I'm smoking my pipe. I need a good, relaxing, drinking, smoking, and listening to music session like that. I've never tried bourbon with ginger beer. I'll have to give it a shot. It's damn good...
