Did I Screw up my New Savinelli?

You are welcome. I hope you have the same success.

    Chacom Hate?

Pipe quality plummeted overall during WWII, especially in France. Longchamp solved this by wrapping pipes in leather. It certainly wasn't an issue limited to Chacom. Here in the USA, KB&B even started making pipes from Manzanita burls (Mission Briar) due to lack of quality briar at this time.

    My first Pipe Club Meeting

That's awesome. I should try to start a pipe club here on the Oregon coast.

    What's For Dinner?

Spaghetti al Tonno tonight, which is really just Spaghetti Puttanesca with some tuna added. I used some locally caught albacore, of which I have plenty thanks to a very generous fishing buddy.

    What's For Dinner?

I usually put the anchovies on before cooking. Cooking them tends to slightly melt them into the pizza and infuse their flavor a bit more. This is the pizza dough recipe I use. It's really simple, foolproof, and makes a delicious dough. Pizza Dough Recipe -...

Club Sandwiches - A Brief Dissertation

The origins of the club sandwich are murky and the subject of plenty of debate. It is widely agreed upon though that it is an American creation, originating in New York City, that began appearing on menus just before the turn of the 20th century.

    There's An Insect Shortage

Good point, I forgot about the cats. Introduced species take a huge toll. Most of Guam's native bird species are extinct now because of brown tree snakes that were introduced to the island during WWII.

***What Are You Smoking, March 2023?***

I need to revisit the Kung Fu series.

Club Sandwiches - A Brief Dissertation

Thanks! Sourdough is my usual bread choice for clubs, but I love rye bread, and throwing a slice of that in the middle sounds great.

Club Sandwiches - A Brief Dissertation

I also love mustard and would want it on any deli sandwich. I'll even put some on my grilled cheese sandwiches from time to time. I'm definitely not a fan of it on clubs though. Speaking of mustard and hot dogs, I always put mustard on my chili dogs. I find it adds a nice touch to the chili.

Club Sandwiches - A Brief Dissertation

Good point. It's not a deal breaker for me, but sans crust would be my preference.

Club Sandwiches - A Brief Dissertation

I love a good Cuban sandwich too. Not many places offer them around here.

Club Sandwiches - A Brief Dissertation

All good points. Romaine or other leaf lettuce for sure. Iceberg lettuce on a club is not good.

Club Sandwiches - A Brief Dissertation

I enjoy a good club sandwich. That's typically what I'll order if it's on the menu at any restaurant or pub I've never been to before. I've found the quality of the club sandwich to be a pretty good indicator of overall food quality. I also usually order a club whenever we play a gig, because I...

    There's An Insect Shortage

Between buildings and wind farms I can understand some decline in bird populations, although one would expect an increase in insect populations as a result of birds and bats getting wiped out by the wind turbines.

    That's very cool.

Molto Dolce in my Savinelli Arcobaleno. My wife approves of the room note.

What Music Are You Listening to? - March, 2023

Another classic that my band is going to cover. We'll probably be skipping the acoustic intro though.

Just make sure they are free range and sustainably harvested.
