    Hello from Houston

Lone Star Tobacco might be worth a shot. Ben, the owner was a big time pipe guy back in the day. They moved locations further north and I think his son runs it now though. The only "real" pipe shop in Houston that I know of is the Briar Shoppe in Rice Village, they have a decent selection of...

    Hello from Houston

Greetings everyone, I've been smoking cigars pretty seriously for around 20 years, and within the last year or so I really started to enjoy piping. Now I have several coolers full of cigars that will age pretty much forever lol. I smoke a variety of blends though I'm not big on the aromatics...

Which Historical Character Would You Choose To Share A Bowl With?

The bees are fine, they'll beard up sometimes if the temperature get's crazy.

Ceramic Pipe Tobacco Humidor — Can I trust it?

For aesthetics, just put the mason jar inside the ceramic. They make all sorts of sizes, there's one for asparagus that's tall and skinny that might do the trick.

Opinel or Alaskan Ulu Knives to Cut Plugs and Ropes?

Personally I'd say use the knife you are most comfortable with that you can use safely. The Ulu is a great knife and I use it almost exclusively when skinning deer and hogs, but I would and do use straight knives for cutting plug.

    Dunhill Availability

I just received an email in stock notification from P&C for bulk nightcap. They raised the price $.50 per ounce across the board on it over what I paid 6 weeks ago though.

    Dedicating Pipes

At first I tried to dedicate this or that pipe to this or that blend, but that went sideways once I started picking my pipe based on how it felt. And whiskey. I do have a hard and fast rule that I try all new blends in a new cob first. It adds and extra 3-5 bucks, but I do like an excuse to buy...

    Updating my cellar

That's like the old joke, "I hope when I die, my wife doesn't sell my guns for what I told her I bought them for!"

Which Historical Character Would You Choose To Share A Bowl With?

Pipestud- I'm with you. He'd totally smoke a pipe. He did the whole water to wine thing because Virgina and Latakia weren't around yet! Barring that, Vincent van Goh. I'd love to talk to him and maybe work through his depression.

What Books Are You Reading? (2018)

I have a 19 month old, so I've been hitting "Harry the Dirty Dog", "Goodnight Moon", and "Brown Bear, Brown Bear. What Do You See" pretty hard the last few months. The last book I read for my own entertainment was about a month before he was born. 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami.

Syrian Latakia Is Gone ... Forever

HH Vintage Latakia is the replacement for Vintage Syrian. Latakia flake is in a class of it's own and has been out for some time. It is also awesome.

    This Just Makes Me Sick

Perception. When consumers perceive a shortage they are willing to pay much more for the same goods they think or know will be going away. This is nothing new, just maybe new to our hobby.

    Good Tobacco Shop in Wichita?

If it's Kansas, try Cigar Chateau. It's been about 10 years since I've been there but I grew up north of Wichita and that was about the only decent place left. They used to have a Bright Leaf in each mall that had pretty great options, but those are long gone.
