The Colorado Special was a fantastic find since it is a true Goodwin Granger built rod, he died in 1931 and Mrs. Granger rented the rights for Wright & McGill to have the rods made but Bill Phillpson had been Goodwins right hand man and head of rod production so he made some changes that changed...
I used to own The Classic Fly Rod Forum where the discussion is vintage tackle but the focus is bamboo fly rods and the reels that are used with them. One of our pipe smoking members started a pipe thread in the empherma section and it has become the most posted thread on the forum since it’s...
pipehunter, no need to apologize at all, when I inspected the pipe once I got it there was a neatly trimmed cake which showed no evidence of any issues. I smoked it and was totally taken with how dry the smoke was and I don’t load dry tobacco I have to have what I feel is the correct hand feel...
I’ve had nothing but great service with them, don’t give up, it’s something you need to follow through with and explain you’d not gotten any response to earlier contact once you have them, good luck.

Sadly that was my last fishing trip over 2 years ago, had a great time but ailments keep piling up. I won’t give until I can no longer relive those past hunting and fishing trips in my head and have enough balance and stamina to cast one of my bamboo rods from time to time, it’s damn beautiful...
Roman Kovalev is his given name, he is a Dr. of pediatric neurology, builds and drives race cars, also owns a liquor company, is known by Doc by everyone he communicates with and makes fantastic pipes known as Dr’s Pipe.

Had my quarterly ear canal infusion yesterday 2 states away, the end of the 2 1/2 weeks of balance problems and bouncing off walls and trying to stay upright are easing and should be muchly improved tomorrow. The sun is out for a change so I filled my other Dr’s Pipe, a Strawberrywood 2 knuckle...
Well his late son may have owned the pipes and like any good father, his name is probably Peter, would like to sell off some of his late sons pipes so they would, sorta, kinda, be Peters son’s pipes!

I was warned by several members that Pipes that were old, 1913 certainly qualifies, can have catastrophic events. Some have been known to crack and others totally split. It’s been killing me as to what to do and I made up my mind this week would be its maiden smoke.
Humidity has been very high...
Sadly the Ingo Garbe Lovat estate pipe I purchased had developed a soft spot under the cake which was not seen. The first smoke was fine and incredibly dry. When I smoked the pipe 5 days later in the rotation I felt a hot spot where I had my thumb so when I cleaned it out after it cooled I...
mothernature said “I also wear my special underwear and buy at least one pipe a year and keep it there.” I am remembering this in the off chance you sell off one of your pipes, I draw the line at pipes stored in underwear!

No, the bamboo chamber is real bamboo but it’s a collar placed over the Briar then a Briar collar tops it off to finish the pipe, the walls a super thick and the chamber is a group 3 just the way I like it saltedplug.

To all my fellow pipers who celebrate Thanksgiving, Happy Thanksgiving. I’m keeping it smokey with some Esoterica Tilbury in the St Kuo Bamboo Barrel Bowl with 2 knuckle bamboo shank, it’s a balmy 7F w/o the 30 mph windchill.

Paul from Larrysson Pipes, Chris Askwith and Russ Cook all accommodated me with my predilection of keeping my pipe capacity at Group 4 and under, the Walt Cannoy was a stock group 3 I purchased new from Walt, all the others are estate pipes so there was nothing I could do, they are what they...
