***What Are You Smoking, March 2023?***

Interesting, thanks. I have some older pipes that I want to try and widen the airways. Will give it a try.

***What Are You Smoking, March 2023?***

If you don’t mind my asking - you just drill it with a low rotation tool? Trough shank and stem? Read in the Fred Hanna book that that is the way to get a great smoke, interested in learning.

***What Are You Smoking, March 2023?***

Semois (Tabac Manil La Volute) in a Nording. I know, I know, even a newbie like me should not keep tobacco in a wood container that is not properly sealed… But the semois is as dry as Bond´s Martinis, and it should be gone in a couple of weeks anyway…

Question/Help: Sour taste - Cleaning Estate Pipe Stem - Oxyclean x Bleach

Labor intensive for sure, but worth it. I am actually working on 3 pipes at the same time, one is getting pretty good. Happy about it. Part of the hobby the way I see it, and could be rewarding as well, giving life back to an old warrior…

Question/Help: Sour taste - Cleaning Estate Pipe Stem - Oxyclean x Bleach

Working on that. Realized that just with Q-tips will take forever.

Question/Help: Sour taste - Cleaning Estate Pipe Stem - Oxyclean x Bleach

It is an estate Sasieni, would hate to have to replace the stem, but if push comes to shove… will try the sanding/polishing first.

Question/Help: Sour taste - Cleaning Estate Pipe Stem - Oxyclean x Bleach

In the process of doing it. Impressed by the amount of stuff still coming out of it

Question/Help: Sour taste - Cleaning Estate Pipe Stem - Oxyclean x Bleach

Thank you all for the great advices. Will stay clear from the chemicals altogether. And as for the abrasives, again the plastic models hobby helps - I have all types of sanding papers, of all grades, so I can do it calmly using some elbow grease.

Question/Help: Sour taste - Cleaning Estate Pipe Stem - Oxyclean x Bleach

Let me abuse of your knowledge here… Is there any value to leave such a stem in white vinegar for 20-30 minutes? Read it somewhere… To get rid of the bulk of the stuff that is there?

Question/Help: Sour taste - Cleaning Estate Pipe Stem - Oxyclean x Bleach

Man, when you get a “sanitized” estate pipe and after 6 pipe cleaners you are still getting this…

Question/Help: Sour taste - Cleaning Estate Pipe Stem - Oxyclean x Bleach

Yes, I heard about ruining the rim by not being careful… Thanks! I have as my other hobby building plastic models (mostly WWII aviation and tanks), so I have alcohol in very convenient disposers that allow me to be surgically precise (I think…).

Question/Help: Sour taste - Cleaning Estate Pipe Stem - Oxyclean x Bleach

It could very well be the case. But It did not taste sour while smoking it (I bought it “sanitized”, whatever that meant for the seller…). When I put the stem, cold, in my mouth, after cleaning the pipe, the sour taste is there. So I blamed the stem - but it could be the pipe. I am also doing a...

Question/Help: Sour taste - Cleaning Estate Pipe Stem - Oxyclean x Bleach

Thanks. I will probably get rid of the dirt inside, and be VERY careful with the bleach…

Question/Help: Sour taste - Cleaning Estate Pipe Stem - Oxyclean x Bleach

I am more interested in removing the sour taste, which I take is coming from inside the stem. So I understand for what you said that some passes of a few pipe cleaners soaked in alcohol should do the trick! I will also work on the shank, I realized the pipe cleaners are still removing tar and...
